Dewhursts x5
Author: Bronwyn Dewhurst
Date:   01-09-19 18:00

After fifteen years of presenting at the Hogwarts Career Day, Wotan Dewhurst had come to the decision that this would be his last. He planned on retiring from Wren, Inc. in time for summer. His two older children had left school ages ago, and though Wolfie was not yet grown, he would be turning ten years old this year. Wotan was secure enough in his finances to know that he could provide for his underage son on just his retirement.

He looked around the Great Hall and marveled at how much Career Day had expanded since that very first year in 1998. Wotan felt like a fixture, an old hat, and though he would feel sad to give it all up, it was time to move on and let someone else influence young minds on the exciting field of architecture.

As in years past, Wotan gave away model kits to anyone who visited his booth. Models included familiar wizarding buildings like Hogwarts Castle itself, Gringotts Bank in Diagon Alley, and the Shrieking Shack in Hogsmeade. There were also Muggle landmarks like the Sydney Opera House, The Taj Mahal, and The Tower of London, among others.

Not far from Wotan's architecture booth was Bronwyn, representing the WWN. She loved to talk and did it well. Anyone who stopped by her booth heard a thorough and engaging explanation of what it was like to be an announcer for the WWN. Bronwyn also had a few special giveaways, including signed drumsticks and autographed posters from different music groups, but the big giveaway was a raffle for a pair of tickets to see Spellbound over Easter break.

Bronwyn was set to emcee the concert herself. She was looking forward to it, and by the number of students who'd already submitted their names for the raffle, it seemed that many were hopeful they would also be at the concert. As a big of a joke, Bronwyn had actually gotten her dad a pair of tickets for his 66th birthday, which had been a few days ago. He wasn't familiar with Spellbound, a girl group popular with younger wizards, but he planned on attending the concert, if only to see his daughter in action.

A few booths over was a first-timer to Career Day, at least a first-time presenter. Kate had attended Career Day every year she'd been a student at Hogwarts. Now she was an adult, talking about her field of choice, interior design. She had on display a portfolio of not only her work, some of which she'd done while a student at St. Emrys University, but there were also advertisements from the store she worked at, Everdeane & Fairbourne.

Kate wasn't terribly nervous about her new role, but it did feel a bit weird. Some of the students visiting the Great Hall had been her housemates in her last years at Hogwarts. Then there was the fact that her father, another veteran presenter, was in the room. Mark was there too. Kate simply wanted to be her very best and not look like a fool in front of the students she was supposed to be mentoring.

Her giveaways were quite nice. At her feet were several boxes. Inside the boxes were tiny pillows no larger than the palm of her hand. The tiny pillows were made of different fabrics and were different shapes and styles. The pillows came from the shop and could enlarge to a normal size with a simple spell. There were pillows made out of brocade, velvet, round in shape, square, with tassels, or sequins, and so much more.

As usual, Kate's father was at Career Day representing Public Relations and the Ministry of Magic. He showed off samples of pamphlets printed by the Ministry. It wasn't a glamorous job, but someone had to do it, and he actually enjoyed the process. He had photographs of the giant presses in action and had a few typesets with him to show off the different sizes and styles. He would never forget how one of the presses fell on him during the Death Eater attack on the Ministry and how his daughter's boyfriend had come to his aid. Will was very glad that the two had found each other again and really didn't mind that they were shacking up.

He kept an eye out for Tessa and smiled when she came over to his booth. She was on her own, having recently broken up with her boyfriend. Will knew that the reason had something to do with the mishap at the last Quidditch match, and Tessa was down about it. She only came to the Great Hall to see her various family members, but especially Will, who might not be her real dad but he was the best dad she'd ever had.

He respected her wishes and didn't ask her how she was doing or if he should get after the boy who'd disappointed her so very severely. Instead, he gave her a treat from his table and attempted to put her in a better mood.

The last Dewhurst in the Great Hall was Siegfried, who was representing sports journalism on behalf of Quidditch Illustrated. He would have loved to give away copies of his first book, but he didn't think doping in the Quidditch industry was interesting or appropriate for the Hogwarts set, especially the younger students.

He was writing a new book about the British and Irish Quodpot League, which had formed only this past summer and was already gaining a lot of interest. His deadline was to get it done before summer so that he might launch it at the next Quidditch Con. Some of his research had already included visits to the States, where the sport was a bit more popular. As a result, he'd even written a few blurbs in the magazine on the sport.

A pair of boys came up to his booth to look at some of the glossy photographs he had pinned to a display board. There were images of great Quidditch plays, all of which Siegfried had taken himself and which he was quite proud of, too. He'd made copies of some of the images and gave them out along with current issues of Quidditch Illustrated.

Another Career Day
Author: Travis
Date:   01-10-19 18:51

An aromatic cup of coffee thrust under her nose has Travis's eyes opening wide. She reaches out to accept the cup from Julian Valentine, her smile grateful. "Thank you. I hadn't realized I was nodding off."

She starts to take a sip but pauses, a question forming but Julian beats her to it. "Decaf. Won't wake you up like the good stuff but it might help a little."

She takes the sip then smiles again at him. "I know I've said it already but thanks, Julian. Benedict had a bad night last night so I've not had much sleep. If not for nursing I'd be chugging potfuls of, as you call it, the good stuff." She appreciatively inhales the wonderful scent wafting up from the cup. "I do enjoy a specialty coffee, even if decaf."

A student neither had noticed asks "What makes a coffee specialty?"

Julian winks at Travis and leaves her to speak with the student, most likely also needing to get back to his own booth or not wanting to waste more of whatever break he's arranged with Lysander Stratford to take. Travis turns her smile to the questioner, a student she's seen in Botanicals & Beyond. "To be considered specialty grade, the coffee has to meet extremely high standards and go through a meticulous classification process. Only 3% of global yield is deemed specialty."

"Are you an herbologist?"

"Yes, that's my background but I've branched out, pardon the pun. I have to know how to run my business, be able to tell if the accountant isn't fudging the books, know about marketing, and so much more."

As the student quizzes her about all that branching out Indigo is explaining to one of the younger students, a first year he thinks checking out Career Day for both something to do and to see what freebies are to be had, the benefits of spaying and neutering pets.

"But doesn't it hurt?"

"If done the Muggle way, yes, there is pain but it can be managed. If done the Wizarding way, there might be a little discomfort but that also can be managed."

The girl's face has scrunched up when Indi said the worlds Muggle way. "Muggle veterinary healers don't know how to do either without it hurting?"

"Muggle veterinarians, as well as Muggle healers for people, are called doctors. They don't have magic so how they do things is very different most of the time."

"How do they do the, what do you call it? Spraying?"

"Spaying. Without going into great deal, in general what happens is the pet is given something to make her sleep and then, "Indi runs a finger near his belly button, "special knives called scalpels are used to cut an incision. Through it her uterus and ovaries, do you know what those are?" At the girl's nod Indi continues, "Her uterus and ovaries are removed. The incision is closed by sewing stitches."

"They do that for the boys too?"

"Neutering requires an incision as well but what's removed is in a different spot."

The student looks blank for half a second but about the time Indi's going to explain further the blank expression turns to one of comprehension. "Oh, I get it."

He smiles at her and gives a brief explanation of how a veterinary healers would do the procedures ending with, "Both are so simple and easy, I'm always surprised with how many people choose not to have them done for their pets."

"I got a kitten for Christmas. Mummy said she'll need spraying, I mean spaying, soon."

"In that case," Indi reaches to pluck a parchment from one of the stacks on the tables making up the MacFusty's booth, "take this voucher. You'll get a lower cost on the spay if you bring her to MacFusty's for the procedure."

"Thanks!"

The girl has a few other questions for him before putting her name in for a drawing for one of three gift certificates then skipping off with the voucher in one hand and an ice blinking owl sugar biscuit in the other.

Bookselling
Author: Lysander Stratford
Date:   01-11-19 17:55

Lysander replenished the basket of leather-bound journals he and Julian were giving away to anyone visiting their booth and then snickered.

Julian glanced over while in the middle of wrapping up a conversation with an older girl and waited until she rather reluctantly left and nobody else came up before turning back to Lysander.

"Do you think he blends in?" Julian asked, dead-pan.

Lysander snickered again and commented, "Maybe Snape will mistake him for a student and give him detention for posing as a Career Day volunteer."

They were laughing at Bill, who was a regular at Career Day along with Lysander and Julian. The only difference from previous years was the fact that Bill looked a lot younger, having gotten treatment for the severe scarring on his face.

Bill didn't actually look underage or anything, but there was a noticeable difference from before and he looked good, though Lysander would never admit it. It was easier and more enjoyable to make fun of the Weasel for no longer looking his age.

Charlotte and Grace bounded up to see their dads. Grace's mum was also at Career Day and had brought a lot of tasty sweets, not only for her booth but also for the refreshments table. Lysander had had a few helpings already.

After a while, Noah and Sophia came up, although independently of each other. As a third year and first year respectively, neither was thinking about their adult lives just yet, but both had nevertheless come to check things out and say hello to their uncle.

After they departed, Bill suddenly materialized at their booth.

"What can we do for you, young Mr. Weasley?" Lysander drawled.

Bill ignored the dig and asked, "Just wanted to touch bases to learn if you've seen or heard anything about Qadir since we last spoke?"

Lysander shook his head. "No, nothing. You?"

"Nothing either." Bill sighed. "I suppose that's a good thing, though I wish I knew for certain he's not plotting against us."

Lysander shrugged. "I'll let you know if I hear or see anything, and you do the same, mind?"

Bill nodded, turned to go, and threw, "Yes, Sir," over his shoulder at Lysander.

Lysander smirked and looked at Julian, whose own smirked turned into a welcoming, dimpled smile when a crowd of flirtatious girls approached the booth.

A Brief Lull
Author: Coco Nutt
Date:   01-11-19 18:10

During a lull in activity at the MacFusty's Pets Career Day booth Coco experiments on a sheaf of parchment with different calligraphy fonts. Looking up to thank Indigo for the tea he's just placed near her she ends up laughing when he remarks, "You know, I'm half expecting my mother to show up today to check over the current crop of seventh years so she can investigate which ones might make suitable spouses come the end of term."

"Dunno. The one she brought in the other day seems a keeper."

Indigo rolls his eyes. "Did you know she's two years younger than I am and in the midst of her third divorce?"

"But she has such a charming smile," Coco replies, parroting something Morticia Munch had said to her son when the candidate to date Indigo was out of hearing range.

"She's always been a pest about my relationship status but she gave much of her attention to Travis so I only thought I had it bad. Say, what are you doing?"

"Trying to decide on the lettering for both save the date notices and wedding invitations."

"You've decided on one then? A date I mean."

"We're getting there. Taking care of some of these sorts of decisions now will save us time when we have a firm choice."

Someone approaches then so Coco gets up to greet them, allowing Indi time to eat the sandwich he'd gotten when getting them both tea. "Hallo, interested in veterinary healing?"

"Yes, but I think I'd rather take care of birds rather than cats and dogs."

Coco pulls a pamphlet from one of the stacks Indigo and she have displayed and begins telling him about specialized veterinary care.

(Titus) An Uncertain Future
Author: Tiberius Nott
Date:   01-12-19 02:56

As a seventh year student, and still a bit uncertain about his future Titus decided to go to the school's Career Day. During the past week Titus had listened to his colleagues talking about this day. Most already knew what they wanted for their future, while others just like Titus were still unsure.

He knew he either wanted to follow Herbology or Architecture. But he could not decide which. He also didn't know if he should aim for a higher education at St. Emrys or to start a career straight away. He wished there would be someone he could talk to about this, but he was not speaking to Tiberius since he found out their family was broke, and he was not going to swallow his pride and do so right now.

His first stop was St. Emrys University booth. He met a witch named Lavinia Newmarch who gave him all sort of information about the university and its large number of courses. She gave Titus a few brochures that displayed images of the campus and several happy young witches and wizards. He asked her about how scholarships worked and if he was a good candidate to them. Titus had previously prepared a few curriculums and hhe handed one to Mrs. Newmarch.

"Your path had not been brilliant," she said, as she analyzed it. "You do not possess a remarkable average, however your Herbology grades are very impressive and you won the first place in your group of the Best in Show: Magical Plants, for the Scholastic Aptitude Tournament. You have been a member of several school clubs, you have been a prefect and now a Head Boy. I would say you have a shot for a scholarship Mr. Nott, but only in our Herbology course. Architecture would be out of question. But it is a narrow shot. I would focus on getting an Oustanding in your Herbology NEWT and some recommendations letters."

Titus thanked Mrs. Newmarch and left, thinking about her words. He then visited Wren,Inc's booth. He shook hands with an old wizard named Wotan Dewhurst, who told him all about the company. Titus admired Mr. Dewhurst's models and he told him about the models he had constructed himself. Mr. Dewhurst explained they were always open to have interns in the company and even without a college degree, if an intern showed work and talent, he or she could go far in the branch. He invited Titus to apply for a position in his company after he graduated. He thanked Mr. Dewhurst for his time, saying he would consider doing so.

He stopped by several other booths but the only ones that really sparked an interest were Botanicals & Beyond and Greene House Farms. Both businesses seemed to be open to receive his application for a job, as well.

Titus left the Great Hall a little bit more enlightened but still unsure about his future. On one hand he would like to go to St. Emrys. But he did not have much money and his shot was remote because he had never been that good of a student. On another side the idea of entering the working force immediately also sounded very tempting. He would not be buried in books, he would start gaining money right away and he would learn with the bests on the field. He had some decisions to make, but he still had time to do so, and so he returned to the Slytherin Common room to finish some homework and consider his options.

Career Day
Author: Sophie McCourt
Date:   01-12-19 03:49

Patricia went to check out Career Day with her colleague Tom Howard. She knew it was important to start to have a sense of what she would like to do in the future. This year she would be taking her OWLs and a low mark in a certain class might limit her future options later.

"These are just divine!" Tom said, as they left Briar's Bakery booth, half a cookie inside his mouth. He had pretended to be interested in baking just to have access to the samples brought by Briar. Patricia had enjoyed learning about baking and sales, but she could not see herself wearing an apron all day and baking cakes for a living.

They stopped at E.L.M. and Wizards Undertakers & Embalmers, where they were received by a former Hogwarts student, Aleydis Vanderbilt. She explained to them what she did for a living. Patricia was impressed because Aleydis' job sounded more complicated than it seemed. Embalming a body gave a lot of work, and it required talent, deep knowledge of the human body and technique.

"And I bet the business is always a success, because you never stop have clients, right?" Tom joked, smiling at Aleydis. It was clear he was trying to hit on her, despite the fact she was older than him.

Aleydis just laughed and she turned her attention to a group of curious first years who wanted to know if she had any cadavers' photographs, she could show them.

"If I die, promise me I will be taken to E.L.M. and Wizards Undertakers & Embalmers," Tom asked Patricia as they walked away from the both. "I might go back to life, if I had such a hot undertaker taking care of me."

"You are disgusting," Patricia commented.

Then her eyes caught Narcissa's booth. Patricia loved the time she spent there, looking at the amazing clothing pieces a witch named Griselda Wright brought with her. She wished she could have tried some robes on. Some of the fabrics were amazing. She also enjoyed her time at Twilfit & Tattings, but Mr. Flick did not seem to have the same flagrant fashion sense as Mrs. Wright.

"Ok, enough of fashion," Tom said, pulling Patricia out of that area.

They checked all the booths available. They spoke to everyone, tried all sort of samples and had fun. Patricia left the Great Hall feeling some regret she did not find out a career she would like to pursue in the future. She was hoping she would leave the Great Hall with a clear idea in her head, but she and Tom had taken things in a light way as they made their tour.

Unlike her sister, Sophie knew exactly what she wanted. She went to visit the Career Day with Caleb, for both wanted to attend St. Emrys. Caleb was interested in Merlin College, either in the area of Finance or Banking, while Sophie wanted to study Astronomy at Blane College.

"You should have been my aunt's niece," he commented.

Sophie knew by the time she enrolled St. Emrys she would be married. She planned for her and Jasper to get a small apartment on campus, as Jasper was finishing his degree in Law. She was already picturing herself living with Jasper in such a cozy home. In a crazy way she was already thinking about the apartment's decoration.

They both took turns to speak with Mrs. Lavinia Newmarch. After checking their school reports it seemed that none would have any issues in enrolling college, if their NEWTs grades were good.

"It's going to be great," Caleb said, as they left the Great Hall. "We started Hogwarts together and we will continue to see each other at college."

"Yes!" Sophie agreed. "You can come to our apartment and have dinner with Jasper and I. Maybe you will find a girlfriend and we can go on double dates. Perhaps Jasper knows some young law student for you…"

Caleb wrinkled his nose. Sophie kept trying to play matchmaker with him and he did not like that. He changed subject back to the life at campus. Talking about St. Emrys made it less painful for them to think about how their time at Hogwarts was almost at an end.

Talk Of Careers
Author: Blossom
Date:   01-12-19 14:40

Larkin approaches the gaming center's Career Day booth. "Hi, Aunt Daria. Did you bring Ione?"

"She's at the day care," Daria replies with a nod. "Just now going around the booths?"

"I was going to come earlier but there was a Quidditch game. I played chaser." Anticipating a question she's been asked many times before Larkin adds, "I only like playing for fun."

"I played a few years as seeker on my house team but I do understand what you mean. Your Uncle Kody, however," Daria says with a incline of her head towards the booth where Kody and Larkin's Aunt Ginny represent the British and Irish Quidditch League as professional players, "will tell you that most of the time playing professionally IS fun."

"Only most of the time?" Larkin smirks.

"Is playing for fun always 100% fun?"

Larkin's head bobbles back and forth. "I get what you mean. I'll be back soon. I'm going to go see Ione if that's okay."

"Yes, sure. She'll like that."

Larkin's timing on leaving is perfect as at that same moment a slightly older girl approaches to ask a few questions about what goes into running Blossom's Gaming Center. At a nearby booth, Blossom is also answering a few questions from a student curious to know how one decides at what level one wants to teach and if teaching only a certain subject then how to decide on that subject.

"If you find yourself loving to help others learn, no matter what's involved, then you might be someone who should consider becoming a teacher. If those you love to help the most are younger, then you probably wouldn't want to teach older students, be they Hogwarts age or attending St. Emrys."

As Blossom continues she looks up, her smile broadening, as Fred walks past with Seth. Fred is nodding along to something Seth is saying. "I might want to be a healer."

Fred jokes, "Are you sure you're not Ron's and Hermione's child? More Hermione's than Ron's?"

Having heard this before Seth jokes back. "I don't know, Dad. Is there something about Aunt Hermione and you that you want to tell me?"

At Fred's hearty laughter, several others look Fred's and Seth's way. Gideon, who is talking with his Uncle Bill, reminds himself ot ask Seth what joke he told Dad to get such a laugh out of him.

Still chuckling slightly Fred tells Seth, "Seriously though, if you want to be a healer, that's brilliant. You're brilliant so I have no doubt you'd do well."

"You wouldn't be mad that I'm not going to be an jokes item inventor?"

"Not at all. If I followed my father's footsteps I'd be chasing down charmed Muggle artifacts being misused."

They've reached the Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes booth by that time. Seth picks up a toy shaped like an egg that's dancing around part of the table. "Did Aunt Majandra really think of the Eggcitable?"

"She did, along with a few other products."

"So if I had a good idea for something I could tell you and Uncle George about it, and it might get sold in the shoppe, even if I became a healer?"

"Yes. Exactly. Or in this instance, would that be eggsactly?"

Seth snorts and rolls his eyes then grins. "Thanks, Dad. I'm going to talk to Mum for a few minutes. I'll see you in a bit, or at least before Career Day ends."

Snagging a jelly in the shape of a donkey that will have him able to bray just like a donkey for a minute or so Seth decides to wait to eat it until after he says hello to his mum.

Talking With Leo
Author: Emerald Green
Date:   01-12-19 19:17

Emerald gives a small potted plant to one of the students who'd been asking her questions about careers in herbology. With no one else at the Greene House Farms table right then she reaches for a sweet, a bar with oatmeal and strawberry jam. She's just taken a bite when her cousin by marriage Leonine Marchbanks reaches the booth. "Hi, Emerald."

She raises a finger as she hastily chews and swallows. "Sorry about that, you caught me with my mouth full. How are you, Leo?"

"Wishing we were still on break."

Emerald empathetically smiles. "The pressure of NEWTs is in full force now, isn't it?"

"I'd say you have no idea but you do. I'm starting to think I want to be a hermit who lives far away from everyone and everything."

"I know that feeling as well." She holds the plate of bars out to him. "My aunt and I made the strawberry jam. It's pretty tasty if I do say so myself."

Leo accepts one of the bars and takes a bite then agrees the jam is good and the sweet bar itself is tasty. "I wish I were like Baron and knew for forever what I want to do after school other than the whole hermit thing."

"It's tough to decide and then once decided there are the questions of whether it's the right decision."

"Yeah. I mean what if I pick something and train for it only to hate it and am miserable? I've heard, 'Oh, then just switch careers. It's easy to do," and I've been told, 'Once you're on a track for something you're locked in so be sure of what you want.'"

"The truth is somewhere in between for most people. It can be easy to switch careers but there can also be challenges. For example, finances can keep someone feeling locked into a career."

"Did you always know what you wanted?"

"No, not at all though I did long have an interest in botany. That's what herbology is to Muggles, more or less. When I did decide to focus on herbology there was a question of what exactly I'd do once done with the coursework."

Leo stays a good ten to fifteen minutes talking with Emerald about the different paths available for an herbologist with Emerald promising Leo a Greene House Farms tour over Easter holiday if he wishes. When he continues on to another booth, she also sends him along with a small box of the strawberry oatmeal bars.

Anthony and Katherine
Author: Beck
Date:   01-13-19 09:14

Anthony stood at the law enforcement booth with Eoghan and told an eager boy what it took to train to become an auror. The boy was glad to hear that training involved more than sitting in a classroom. Anthony talked about the different kinds of techniques aurors had to employ to catch bad guys, including Muggle hand-to-hand combat and stealth. Dueling with magic was a given.

Because both he and Plum were at Career Day, they'd asked Gillian to babysit Evan. Gillian was also minding Karina and Adam, since Ariella was working at the pie shoppe. The younger Becks rarely left the little ones with Gramps anymore, since he was in his 90s and didn't need to be chasing after his grandkids, who had much more energy than he did.

Katherine was also at Career Day. Besides Ariella, the only Beck sibling who wasn't present was Alanna, who was still missing and was presumed dead, though Anthony wouldn't believe it until he saw a body. When not surveilling Menelaus McGonagall, he was spending all this extra time searching for leads on where his sister might be.

Without a body proving her death, Anthony imagined that she was being held captive by the Death Eaters. He didn't want to think about what they might be doing to her, but he wanted her to be alive so she could come home to the family one day. He knew it might be selfish, wishing her to be alive when her circumstances might be horrific, but it couldn't be helped. She was his baby sister and he needed to get her back.

Katherine's booth was nearby. She looked around the crowded Great Hall. Career Day had grown over the years. She recognized a lot of the volunteers, but there were many new ones, too. She'd already done a walk around to see the new offerings and was very impressed. The Salem Witches' Institute hadn't held any career events. She'd heard about St. Emrys University through a counselor and had applied, hoping more schooling would help her figure out what she wanted to do with her life.

It all worked out in the end. She'd gotten her education, had a great career, and was in a good relationship with Dean, whom she'd been dating since mid-May. Katherine had never felt happier. Her relationship with Dean was so very normal––not drama-filled like the one with Jonathan had been.

A female student came over to inquire about what it was like working for The Daily Prophet. Katherine put on a welcoming smile and did her best to explain her daily routine and what she loved about her job.

Quidditch Questions
Author: Ginny Weasley
Date:   01-13-19 18:31

"Do you think the Harpies will ever have a male player?"

Ginny considers the question as if she has not heard it too many times to remember before replying, "It's possible though I have no idea when that might happen."

"Are you surprised no bloke has made it an issue?"

"Frankly, in this day and age, yes. I want to say it's even illegal in some instances in certain Muggle areas."

"What about the Harpies only having players whose first or last names start with G? Why did that end?"

"As you probably know, the first player hired who broke that tradition was Valmai Morgan. Since then there have been others, including my long standing teammate Selma Hollingberry. Niki Marks doesn't appear to follow the tradition but she actually does. When she first tried out she hadn't yet married. She was Griffiths but by the time she played her first official match as a Harpy, she'd gotten married. I am not sure, however, what led to breaking the tradition other than those who aren't a G are mostly excellent players."

"Only mostly?"

"Not everyone is exceedingly brilliant and thought every pro teams wants only those who are, it can be difficult to field such a team every year. Also, even if someone is exceedingly brilliant that person isn't necessarily a good team player." Ginny looks to the other British and Irish League representative. "I can't speak for Kody there, but I know I'd rather play with teammates who know the value of working with one's mates rather than grand standing as an individual, even if it means those teammates aren't every one of them exceedingly brilliant players."

Hearing her, Kody nods in agreement. "Yes, exactly. By playing well as a team, those were are brilliant can lift up the game play of those who aren't."

The student, a male, smiles at Ginny. "Thanks for talking with me. Maybe I'll be the first male who makes it as a Harpy, if not, maybe I'll find a spot with the Bats," he says of Kody's team the Ballycastle Bats.

"Be sure to put your name in for the drawings," Ginny and Kody say in tandem. The drawings are for Quidditch Con tickets and for a pair of tickets to a match of the winner's choice.

As the young wizard walks away, Ginn says to Kody, "Remind me to remind the league that next year they should really have a coach or a trainer or both here as well."

"Good idea. I bet Drake would be willing to represent as a coach."

She reaches for what's left of the candy truffles in shapes of snitches, bludgers, and quaffles. "If we don't hurry up and get rid of these with students I'm going to eat what's left."

Kody grins at her. "Not if I eat them all first," he replies before stuffing one of the bludger truffles into his mouth.
