Not A Good Idea
Author: Kissy Isuki
Date:   09-12-07 20:33

After going to see what the noise down the hall was, Kissy returned to her class of fourth years, fury simmering just beneath the surface. Kissy was not the least bit shocked that Ryland Yaxley ignored the fact that Erebus Mars was attempting to extort money from two of the students labeled Nons. Not being shocked doesn't mean it can't make her angry. What's more, if Deacon Bennett hadn't intervened, the two Nons (whom Kissy strongly suspects are Deak's friends Jack Emerson and Wiggersmythe Hodfuffer) would have either paid Erebus the money and he would have gotten away with the extortion or they would have gotten into a fight and Erebus would have gotten the same slap on the wrist he got while Jack and Wiggy would have gained some serious detention time with some sort of horrific punishment.

The fact that Yaxley was a little condescending towards her only irks Kissy a little. She's growing used to his manner and is better able to ignore it. She did nearly say something to him, but that was mainly going to be about his very mild warning to Erebus about not attempting to take money from others again. Kissy thought better of it only because Deak was standing there. Much as she dislikes Yaxley, getting into an argument with the Deputy Headmaster in front of a student isn't very professional of her so Kissy wisely shut her mouth and walked away.

With her mind definately not on her class, Kissy forgets to tell them they have a quiz next week. As Geoffrey Ludlow, the last of the fourth years leaves, Kissy thinks of the quiz, realizes she's not said a word about it and didn't have it written on the blackboard, and shrugs. She'll do a pop quiz next week but so she doesn't feel guilty for it she'll make it on dueling and let them show off a little.

Quickly prepping for her 1 pm class of 5th years, Kissy leaves for lunch. She's pulling the classroom door shut behind her when Ryland Yaxley says, "Walk you down?"

Kissy can't very well say no if he too is going to the Great Hall. She nods, "If you're going to lunch then I suppose you'd be walking me down whether I want you to or not."

Yaxley chuckles, "Have I ever mentioned I find this spitfire side of you cute?"

"That was being spitfire?" Kissy asks, avoiding the cute comment.

"Yes, that was being spitfire. Don't play coy," he chuckles again.

"I'm not being coy."

"When are you going to agree to have dinner with me?"

"I didn't know the offer had ever been made."

"It has now. Well?"

"You're a co-worker and technically my boss."

"Is that a no?"

"It's a it's not a good idea." Kissy would give him an out and out no but is avoiding doing that for as long as she's able.

Yaxley turns so that he's standing in front of Kissy, forcing her to come to a halt. "As your boss I say it is a good idea."

Kissy looks archly at him. "Forcing me to have dinner with you? Not a very attractive quality in a man."

"That's right. You've a history of stubbornly digging in your heals with faced with others trying to force something on you."

"Yes and look how that turned out for them," Kissy retorts.

Yaxley laughs, a deep, belly laugh, as he moves aside and keeps walking. "There's the spitfire again."

They walk the rest of the way in silence but at the doors to the Great Hall Yaxley says to Kissy, "Pick you up at six."

Kissy opens her mouth to tell him no but Yaxley walks into the Great Hall and immediately engages Professor Snider in conversation, leaving Kissy to walk to the second head table on her own, her fury from earlier bubbling to just below the surface again.

Busy Times Three
Author: Julian Valentine
Date:   09-12-07 21:06

Julian enters Twice Told Tales after attending a birthday party for Grace at Blossom's and is immediately beseiged by three very attractive women.

"Mr. Valentine!"

"I need Julian's help more than you do so if you'll kindly step aside."

"I think I was here first."

Julian looks over their heads to Lysander, busy at the counter with a line checking out. Lysander's eyes twinkle merrily and he appears to be smirking.

Julian holds up his hands. "Ladies, ladies. I can help each of you."

Edgar appears around an aisle, "I'm available now as well."

The medium height, curvy, thirty-something brunette who'd first spoken, smiles placatingly at the other two. "There you go. He's happy to help. Now, Mr. Valentine, may I call you Julian?"

A well endowed redhead who looks to be in her early twenties steps in front of the brunette. "Julian's helping me. I'm sure Edgar there will find whatever you need."

The third woman is even darker haired than the first brunette, tall, thin, but not too thin. "I really was here first. Ask Mr. Stratford."

Julian asks first brunette, "What are you needing?"

"I'm looking for a book on collectable cauldrons."

"Edgar, see if you can locate it for the lovely lady. Now, ma'am, what may we do for you?" Julian asks brunette number two.

"I need to order a first edition Hesperon Odelette."

"If you'll step over to the counter I'll be with you in a moment." Julian looks to the red head. "And you?"

"I owled in an order last week and as long as I'm in Hogsmeade today want to see if it's arrived."

"Then if you will also step to the counter, I'll be with you in a moment as well." To the first brunette Julian offers his arm. "May I escort you to the coffee corner while you wait for Edgar?"

"Yes, that would be lovely, thank you."

A half hour later, all three women have been waited on and Julian has dates with each as well. To Lysander he says, "Sorry for going to the party. I had no idea you'd get so swamped in such a short time and on a Wednesday morning when nothing is going on."

"Don't worry about it. Those three who more or less jumped all over you when you came in were waiting patiently in line before you arrived."

"What can I say? Must be my cologne," Julian laughs.

"'What time are we to be at Briar's?"

"As soon as we can after closing but only if that suits you. Briar's doing a come and go with finger foods."

"And a cake."

"And a cake," Julian grins. "I can't believe Grace is four today."

"How was the kiddie party?"

"Fun but loud. You'll see when it's Charlotte's turn. Be here before you know it. Oh, and speaking of Charlotte, Briar said if you want, she'll just take Charlotte home with her when she picks up Grace from Blossom's. Let her know if that's not all right."

Lysander shakes his head, "That's fine by me. Here comes one of your new lady friends back again."

Julian swivels his head to see brunette number one returning. He steps towards the entrance, "Chantal, I wasn't expecting you back so soon."

"I was hoping you're free for lunch."

"I will be in a bit. Lysander here needs a long break first and Edgar needs to go to lunch as well."

"How about I come back around one then?"

"Perfect," Julian flashes her a dimpled smile.

When Chantal has left, Lysander quips, "I've a feeling you're what's on her lunch menu."

Julian sniggers, "I certainly hope so!"

Talking (Wiggy)
Author: Phinfilius
Date:   09-13-07 19:43

Wiggy hadn't wanted to leave Deak at those stairs between the second and third floors and neither had Jack. They knew it was best when Deak said Professor Yaxley was coming. Yaxley is too much on the side of Pureblood supremacy and all of Hairy's rules for them to risk getting caught in a fight. Jack and Wiggy rushed on to Charms, hoping that Yaxley didn't came dashing up the stairs to see who was leaving the scene. Sliding into their seats in Professor Flitwick's classroom, Wiggy had whispered to Jack, "We'd be writing lines for ages with those awful quills."

Jack had nodded, whispering back, "Yeah, I bet that's what we'd get for detention too even if we didn't do anything."

They'd had to shut up after that because Professor Flitwick was starting class. During lunch, Wiggy didn't sit at the Gryffindor table. He sat with Jack at the Ravenclaw table on one side of the purple line while Deak sat on the other. They could fell Erebus Mar's eyes on them but none turned to look to see if he was shooting daggers at them.

It's not that they're cowards. It's that every so often Professor Yaxley looked Deak's way. Wiggy was certain that at any moment the man was going to stalk over to them and demand that Wiggy move to his house table and dock Wiggy points and assign a detention. Jack even commented, "Every day I expect Snidely to proclaim the rule that Pures may sit at any table they wish except during feasts and other special occassions but the Nons have to sit only at their house tables no matter what."

With Yaxley's eyes on them in the Great Hall, the boys ended up talking mainly about pro Quidditch teams. After lunch they walked to the greenhouses, Deak going to Herbology with Professor Masterson while Jack and Wiggy went to Professor Fitzroy's class. After Herbology they'd all walked back to the castle together, parting at stairs on the first floor, Deak going up to the second for Transfiguration, Jack and Wiggy continuing down the hallway to Professor McGonagall's.

After Transfiguration came History of Magic and for the first time since school began, Wiggy found himself missing Professor Binns. In Binns's class Jack and he could have put their heads together to talk more about what they can do next time something like what took place with Erebus Mars happens. With Professor Whitman, such conversation simply wasn't possible. Even passing notes is difficult under her watchful eye.

Wiggy thought it best to sit at his own table for supper, sitting close to the end of the Non section, far away from Erebus Mars and the purple line of demarcation. Afterwards, Deak and Jack met up with him in the common commons. Over games of Wizard chess, talking in low voices about what they can do.

Wiggy has a pawn move then says, "What about that group that's met a time or two? What's going on there?"

Deak shakes head. "Don't know. I think some were figuring out a name for the group but I've not heard whether one's been chosen."

Jack also shakes his head. "I don't even know when the next meeting is. I hope it's not during dinner again like that first meeting was. Too many of us taking supper in here instead of the Great Hall, especially Pures, and it happening on any sort of regular basis is going to get unwanted attention."

Out of the blue Wiggy asks, "What about Dumbledore's exotic bird? The phoenix?"

Deak asks, "Fawkes? What about him?"

"What's become of him?"

Jack looks blank and Deak shrugs. "No idea. I'll ask Aaron and Saffron if you want. Why?"

"Just seems like everything I've heard about that bird it has a special connection to Professor Dumbledore... I don't know what I mean," Wiggy admits then says, "I guess I was wondering if he's being cared for."

Jack and Deak say at the same time, "Yeah."

More people have come in so they lower their voices even more and continue talking about the problem of Pures giving Nons a hard time.

Books and homework
Author: Cailyn Spicer
Date:   09-14-07 20:36

Cailyn plopped her books down on a chair in the Gryffindor Common Room and sighed heavily. She had so much homework to do for her Defense against the darks arts class that it wasn’t funny. Her pretty face turned to a little pout as she fell backwards onto the chair. So much for a fun weekend! She would be spending most of it doing her homework.

Another sigh escaped as she turned over onto her stomach and pulled out one of her school books. Why did they have to learn Defense against the Dark Arts? They weren’t going to be using any of what they learned. Besides, nothing bad would happen at a school. Cailyn thought while she sat the book down.

“I can’t find my books!” A girl wailed as she walked into the room and sank down onto a chair across from Caiyn. She stared at Cailyn with big round eyes. “ I have to have those books.” She cried.

Cailyn stared at the girl for a moment and let out another sigh. Though she had been in the same house with the girl for months, she couldn’t remember the girl’s name. Or where she was from or really anything about her. The only friend she had made so far was Alex. But, she knew that if it was her, she would want someone to help her find her lost books.

“Well, were did you last see them?” Cailyn asked the strange girl in front of her.

Retrieval and introduction
Author: Artemis Evangeline
Date:   09-14-07 22:31

Missy was in a tizzy because her favorite set of books given to her by her mother had been missing now for a whole day. Not only were they important to her, but one of them happened to be her diary, and losing you diary in school was always the beggining of disaster.

At this point she was almost frantic to find the belted bunch before someone else did. Walking into the common room after her eleventh time searching her steamer trunk and the rest of her dorm, Artemis exclaimed in dismay, "I can't find them...I can't find my books! I have to have those books!"

One girl nearby looked at Missy. She had brown hair, large doe-like eyes, and a warm open face. She looked rather tired though, and was accompanied by a large pile of homework.

"Well, where did you last see them?" the girl asked. Try as she might, Missy could not recall the girl's name. She had seen her around, of course, but never introduced herself.

Breathing a sigh of relief having found some help Artemis smiled at her. "I remember leaving them on the table over there last night, and that's it, but I have searched everywhere and I have to find them."

Immediatly the two split up and searched the common room. Artemis looked under the sofas and in corners but could not seem to find them. Standing up straight she looked around for the helpful girl and saw her standing by the table Missy had studied at the previous night holding a belted bundle of books and smiling.

Artemis blushed. She had looked around the table and everthing, believing she had taken the books off but she had not bothered to search the table itself and look under the mounds of paper, etc.

Smiling sheepishly, she took her books and looked at the girl. "I'm terribly sorry... I have been so distracted lately. I can't believe I missed them. Thank you so much for your help. I'm Artemis by the way. It's nice to meet you!"

Classes Calling
Author: Cailyn Spicer
Date:   09-15-07 09:08

The day was slowly slipping into the afternoon, and Cailyn’s next class was coming up in a hurry. She hadn’t gotten any of her homework done, nor had she even bothered to eat lunch. The latter she knew she would regret. At least, she had helped Artemis find her books. She smiled rather shyly as the girl told Cailyn her name.

"I’m terribly sorry...I have been so distracted lately. I cant believe I missed them. Thank you so much for your help. I’m Artemis by the way, it’s nice to meet you!"

“My name is Cailyn.” Cailyn said shyly. “I’m happy to have been able to help you.” She yawned again and sighed. She hadn’t been sleeping well lately and what she really wanted was a nap. Instead, her next boring class was calling to her. What she wanted to do more then sleep or even talk to Artemis was spend time with Alex. She missed him. A little pout escaped on her face, but then turned back to a shy smile.

“I am really sorry.” Artemis said again as her cheeks colored a little. Cailyn shook her head.

“It’s not trouble at all. I’m glad I could help. But I really have to go to my next class.” Cailyn said grabbing her books up and making her way out the door.

Hermione and Ron
Author: Hermione Granger
Date:   09-15-07 21:03

Hermione sat in Ron's lap in the kitchen of her flat above Weasley's in Hogsmeade and leaned her head against his chest. She listened to his heart beat in between telling him about her first four days as an intern at St. Mungo's. He rested his chin on her head and had his arms wrapped around her body.

"Essentially, I'm getting paid to go to school. How cool is that?" Hermione said, smiling at the thought. Earning money while learning was something she only dreamed of doing.

"It's very cool," Ron said, "if, you know, you like homework and exams."

Hermione laughed. "I do, you know. Do you remember when finals were canceled our second year at Hogwarts? I think I could have cried."

"You're mental, Hermione. I've always thought so."

"But that's what you love about me."

"That and other things." He cupped his hands beneath her chin and tilted her face to meet his. He kissed her long and deeply and then said, "You saved Bill's life. Without you, he'd still be a vegetable or worse––dead. We'll always love you for that."

Hermione shrugged her shoulders, feeling modest. "You'd have done the same thing if you were in my position."

Ron shook his head. "I'd have liked to but I wouldn't have been able to do it. I'd have needed your help. I'd have needed Harry's help."

"I didn't do it all on my own. I had your help, and Harry's, and Lysander Stratford's."

Ron rolled his eyes. "Wait till Bill hears about that one."

"I already told him," Hermione replied. "He found it especially funny that I omitted to Lysander that I wanted to save Bill's life with the information found in the book I wanted him to find. I am a little worried what Lysander will think when he finds out. He almost died for someone he loathes."

"I wouldn't worry," Ron replied. "You weren't required to disclose everything, were you?"

"No."

"Then he did his job and you did yours. End of story. When do we want to visit Bill? He left the hospital yesterday and I still haven't been by his house to give him a proper welcome back to the world of the walking and talking."

"He's not really walking yet," Hermione pointed out. "His legs are pretty week from having been out of use for close to half a year. He is talking again though. It really didn't take him long to recover his senses again. He just needs to do some physical therapy and he'll be back to normal again in no time. We can go tonight, if you want. Just for a quick hello."

"Okay. Let's do that."

Hermione extracted herself from Ron's lap and helped him out of the chair, where he'd been weighted down for at least an hour. His legs were tingly from Hermione having sat on them for that long.

"Ow, ow, ow," he complained as Hermione slowly led him from the flat to Bill's house. "There's really got to be a spell for waking up legs that have fallen asleep."

Hermione laughed, walking with one arm hooked around Ron's. When his legs woke up again, they picked up the pace and eventually found themselves at Bill's and Fleur's.
