(Maddie) Homework
Author: Oreileah McCoi

After Herbology Maddie and Orei parted ways because Maddie needed to study for the quiz she was having in Muggle Studies (not that she paid much attention to Professor Parkinson's ramblings). She also had to finish up her History of Magic homework that was due at two. Well, at the moment they were both studying in their dorm room after grabbing sandwiches from the Great Hall.

"Seriously, if I have to listen to one more lecture from Pansy Parkinson about how those who are 'pureblooded' magical born are superior to everyone else I am going to scream." Maddie said flinging a crumpled bit of parchment across the room and sinking back onto the pillows of her bed.

"Get used to it, that's how things are until things go back to normal, if they are ever going to get back to normal." Orei said, sighing lightly. She'd given up on things going back to the way they were, no one even knew -where- everyone one who had left Hogwarts was...or even if they were still alive.

"I know. Anyway, I'll see you for dinner, need to get going. Really don't want to be late when Parkinson gives a quiz, because it automatically means ten points deducted." Maddie said, gathering her books and heading out of the dormatory she shared with Orei.

Extra Studying - Lost in Translation
Author: Oreileah McCoi

Orei was mildly irritated that she'd missed the office hours of most of her professors, especially those she needed to speak with before class on Monday. She was currently tempted to give up on the Arithmancy and Divination assignment she was working on if she couldn't find anything in the library. After Maddie had left for class Orei had grabbed her books and headed to the library and was currently in a private study room attempting to figure out the Arithmancy problem before her.

She still had the Ancient Runes assignment to do, that was half complete. She was still struggling in her grammar for one of the translations and had wanted to go speak to Professor Hodfuffer, but of course she didn't manage to wake up early enough and by the time Herbology had ended his office hours were over. She sighed and massaged her temples, debating on going to see Madame Pomfrey for a headache remedy before she attempted studying again. Or shutting herself up in her dorm room with the curtains drawn around her bed sounded like a good alternative as well.

She'd briefly heard from Brett, who would not be coming in for Career Day because it was too short a notice and his company wasn't going to be setting up a booth which means again she'd not be able to see him. Part of her was thinking that this wasn't going to work and she'd written countless letters to him explaining that (none of which she'd actually gotten the courage to send mind).

"Why can't I figure this out? I know the answer is staring me in the face." She murmured staring at the numbers in front of her. She shook her head and tucked away the problem, she'd see if she could snag Professor Sacheverelle at dinner and ask for help this weekend or sometime next week as that wasn't actually due until three thirty on Wednesday.

For now, she needed to work on her rune creation assignment as well as finish her essay on what advance runes are. She massaged her temples and muttered softly under her breath, thinking that maybe she'd take a break and go see Madame Pomfrey for a headache remedy, though first she penned a note and summoned a House Elf. "Deliver this to Professor Sacheverelle please."

Dear Professor Sacheverelle,

I'm having trouble with the assignment due Wednesday, I'm not quite sure what you are looking for. I know your office hours end at noon for the week on fridays but I do not get out of Herbology until noon, is it possible to meet with you this evening or perhaps sometime this weekend to go over the assignment so I can figure out what I am missing?

Orei McCoi

That's done, and Orei packed up her things, it was getting closer to time for her to meet Maddie for dinner after her last class and she'd have to eat after the headache remedy from Madame Pomfrey so she'd head there first, then drop her books off and go to meet Maddie for dinner at five thirty in the Great Hall.

Safe
Author: Minerva McGonagall

The thick fog that had hung over Minerva's head for an unknown amount of time slowly lifted, dragging her from unconsciousness. In the beginning, she couldn't find the strength to stir or even open her eyes, so she remained unmoving and for all appearances still asleep. Her senses clarified, slowly but surely, and it was in the few minutes following her return to consciousness that she realized something had changed.

She felt a soft, fluffy pillow behind her head. The mattress she lay on was firm, yet comfortable, and warm blankets covered her feet all the way to her chin. The incessant, incurable shivering that had plagued her since all fall and winter long had finally, unbelievingly ended. She was warm, something she hadn't ever imagined to be again.

Minerva also wasn't starving. She felt a little hungry, but the gnawing pain that had never wanted to go away had seemingly vanished.

Had she died? Was she now in some other realm of consciousness, free from everything she had experienced at Goen Bren?

But then she heard voices, ones she recognized.

"She's still asleep," said Molly Weasley. Her voice sounded both strained and relieved.

"Moody thought it best we give her an extra dose of the sleeping draught," answered Molly's son, Bill. "She needs her rest, especially after all she's gone through."

From their dialogue, Minerva felt that Molly and Bill were alive and that they hadn't been captured, too. It meant that she was still alive and, could it be, had she been rescued? Was it all over, at last?

She stirred, and Molly gasped and came to Minerva's side. She sat on the edge of the bed. Minerva opened her eyes and saw two blurry figures with shocking red hair staring at her anxiously.

"Welcome back," Molly greeted kindly. "You've been through quite an ordeal. I came as soon as Bill told me he found you." He cast an admiring look at her eldest son and reached out to take and squeeze his hand. She returned her gaze to Minerva, who was still taking everything in.

"He and Moody did what they could for you, but I think you're better off with a woman for a nurse. I've sent for Hermione Granger. She's the closest thing we have to a healer. She'll be able to tend to your... erm." She cast a solemn look in the direction of Minerva's feet and then smiled delicately at the older witch.

Minerva croaked, "Where am I? What happened? How did I get here?" So many questions and hopefully answers for each.

Thoughts on getting a whole new family
Author: Cailyn Spicer

Books where flying back as forth as Cailyn sat in a quite corner in the library chewing on the end of her of her candy stick. Yeah she knew she shouldn’t be eating candy in the library but she really didn’t care, because Cailyn was actually steadying. Yep, Cailyn had decided to become a straight A student her last year at Hogwarts and because of this, she was steadily ahead in her books. In fact, Cailyn had pretty much finished her school work for the next week and was utterly bored in each of her classes. She had taken to reading advanced books instead of her classroom books.

For the first time in a long time, Cailyn was having a hard time concentrating on the books in front of her. All she could think about was the last day she had seen her father. Nicko who had always prided himself in being a single dad. Always saying how he would never married, had told Cailyn he was getting married. He had made sure she was on the train to Hogwarts before he told her, so that she would not be able to reply. He knew exactly what she was going to say. And she did say it too. In about ten letters a week to her father since she had found out he was engaged. She didn’t even know who her new Step Mother was going to be.

The woman was from America and had a strange name like Muffy or something like that. She was a pure blood witch. Her family’s line went way, way, way, back. She had ten kids of her own, and what was worst, was she was Simon’s sister. This meant that Simon was going to be related to her. Ugh.

Cailyn groaned and slammed her head on the end of the table. Not caring how much it hurt, she welcomed the pain. At least hurting her head and diving into her steadies was a way for her not to think about the fact that her father was getting married to some Hickville witch who lived in Tennessee.

Thankfully, this was Cailyn’s last year at Hogwarts and she was no longer going to need to live with Nicko. As soon as she graduated she was going to go onto St. Emry’s and get a tiny little loft some where in London, far away from her new family. Let her father deal with Muffy Hickville and her kids.

Back in Reality
Author: Lawrence Masterson

Lawrence had left work early and had arrived in Hogsmeade to meet with Ariella for lunch, they were eating out at Imperial Crown & Cauldron this afternoon. They'd not broken their routine since they'd returned from their Honeymoon, a Caribbean cruise and some more time spent away from the dreariness that life in Wizarding England had become. They'd made sure to bring everyone back some cute little trinket from the Caribbean, muggle and wizarding alike because neither of them could resist the variety of items that had been available for the tourists.

"Reservation for Masterson." He said, to the hostess when he entered. Ariella had said she was going to be a little late for their twelve thirty lunch date because of a job interview. She was still trying to find some work, and he was still encouraging her to begin taking courses to help finish getting an equivalent to the status she'd have for finishing at Hogwarts. She'd only had a few months left when they'd been found out and she'd been expelled and he'd been sacked.

He allowed the hostess to seat him and place the two menus down, he ordered a bottle of butterbeer and waited for Ariella. She came bustling in about twelve forty five and sat down next to him after taking off her jacket, coat and gloves. "Sorry I'm late." She beamed and kissed him. "But, the interview went great. They are going to be calling back for second interviews later this evening, so hopefully I will get it."

"Fantastic." He said kissing her in return and wrapping an arm around her shoulders. "I am done for the day, and am thinking of checking in with Botanicals and Beyond, and picking up a short shift there in the evenings helping Travis with anything he might need."

Ariella nodded and looked over the menu. She ordered a bottle of butterbeer and they both ordered lunch. Lawrence was in the mood for a bowl of french onion soup and a ham and swiss sandwich, and Ariella had a bowl of tomato soup and a ham and swiss sandwich. They talked about a variety of plans while they ate and ordered dessert, mulled cider and sauteed apples and vanilla ice cream for Lawrence and a slice of warm apple pie a la mode for Ariella.

Lawrence paid the check when it came and the pair of them sat for a little while longer, dreading going back out into the chill of winter.

Bad News
Author: Carys
Date:   11-09-08 08:27

A cold blast of water pummeled Carys' skin. She stood in a corner of the warden's quarters, shivering but at the same time grateful for the jet of water that shot out of his wand. She hadn't showered in quite some time, since the only source for bathing was a small basin in the WC in her cabin.

The warden stopped the incantation and threw at her the dirty rags she wore for clothes. "Get dressed," he commanded, turning his back on her to sift through some paperwork he had on his bedside table.

Carys wished she had a towel to properly dry herself off before slipping on her dirty clothes but did as she was ordered without hesitation. She slipped on her socks (each had a hole at the big toe, and one also had a hole at the heel) and quickly stepped out of the water puddle so that her feet wouldn't get any wetter than they already were.

Her heart had almost stopped when the warden had requested her presence in his quarters. Although she'd always dreaded meeting him like this, she'd been especially leery this time because she feared that she would finally be punished for keeping Professor McGonagall's illness a secret. To her surprise, not once did he mention Minerva.

Surely the two guards who's burst in on Carys and Urania had informed the warden of what was afoot?

Carys knew she ought to keep her mouth shut but she couldn't take the suspense any longer. "What happened to Minerva McGonagall?"

Urania had been quick to inform Carys of Minerva's disappearance yesterday. Both witches feared the worst.

The warden turned around and scrutnized Carys sharply. Carys felt the blood drain from her face and her stomach turned.

But the warden merely turned away from her again and stated simply, "She's dead."

Carys gasped aloud.

"She was found not to be doing her duties and was thusly terminated," he went on, without looking at her.

Carys felt tears begin to sting her eyes. No! She can't be dead!.

The warden look over his shoulder again. "You still here? Haven't you somewhere else you ought to be?"

Carys nodded furtively and walked blindly out of the room, for her eyes were obscured by tears. She felt a pain she hadn't felt since Mairwen had died. Minerva hadn't been family but in the past few months she'd been nearly so.

Carys stumbled out of the building and headed in the direction of the kitchens. Tears flowed freely down her cheeks now and threatened to freeze on her face from the cold.

Meeting the Past
Author: Havana
Date:   11-09-08 12:03

Havana had spent weeks thinking about the strange encounter with a man on the street. How did he know anything about her? Why did he carry one of those wand things, and more importantly why did she have one? It was time she got up the courage to meet this mysterious man once again. Maybe he held the key to unlock her memory.

Finally she wandered out into the cool evening air, looking for the address the man had given her. Havana froze, looking out at a large home. Whoever lived there was really wealthy; there was a heavy iron gate and a long driveway leading towards the Reveli mansion. “Here goes nothing…” She took a deep breath, pushed through the gate and made her way towards the house.

~

Inside the house, a set of eyes peered through the window. “Ryker! Get your nosey arse away from there! She’ll be coming in soon!”

“Oh come off it Mum, I’m able to do whatever I want, I’m twenty two years old you know.” Ryker snorted and rolled his eyes.

Lairen growled, grabbed her son by the ear, and pulled him away from the window. “Go upstairs, and wait until you are called down! Your father and I will handle Isadora.”

Marek came down the hallway into the living room and kissed his wife’s cheek. “It’s time to get our daughter back.” His tone was slightly dark, and there was an evil glint in his eye. He opened the door, a smirk spreading across his face “Isadora! Welcome home my child!”

Havana blinked; the man standing just inside the door, the same mysterious man she had met on the street was her father? Suddenly she took a deep breath, ‘Isadora’ wasn’t that the name of the little girl in her dreams? Maybe the dreams she had been having over the past few months were really flashbacks. “Uh…you guys are my parents?”

Lairen and Marek glanced at each other and then both nodded. “You are the youngest of four children Isadora. Annis is 30, Sidra is 27, Ryker is 22 and you, our baby are 18.” Lairen pulled her daughter into a hug.

Havana froze, something about this reunion was wrong, and yet the hug of the woman claiming to be her mother felt familiar. Maybe this was real, maybe she was home. Little did she know, but her family wasn’t as perfect as they seemed.

Ministry of Magic - An Amazing Discovery
Author: Drucilla Eternal

"I need you," whispered a voice in my ear, urgently.

I bit my lip. The time had finally come. I couldn't avoid it any longer.

"Where?" I whispered back, so the other filing clerks couldn't overhear us.

"My office. Now."

He turned to leave. I followed half a second later.

As he pulled me into the office, I briefly noted the huge oak desk in the back of the room. On the desk was a stack of files. This was all I could make out before he pushed me back roughly into the door, his lips seeking mine. I was about to unbutton his shirt when a brisk knock made us both freeze. Frowning, he pressed a finger to his lips, making me move behind the door. He opened the door a crack.

"What?"

"Sebastian, it's the Minister. She wants to see you."

"Now?" he barked.

"Uhm.. yes. Unless you want me to tell her it's a bad time?"

"No!" I almost thought I heard a note of panic in his voice. "I'm on my way."

"I'll let her know," said the messenger.

"Wait here," he whispered roughly, before opening the door part way and rushing out.

I stood frozen to the spot, in a situation I had only dreamed of. Alone, in Sebastian's office, the possibilities were endless!

I rushed to the desk, pulling on drawers, cursing softly as each drawer refused to budge. The thick filing system was also locked. Almost crying in frustration, my eyes finally rested on the folders on top of his desk.

I tried to open the first folder in the pile. It was magically sealed. I tried the next folder, and then the next, and the next, only to find all the folders sealed. Sinking into Sebastian office chair in defeat, I closed my eyes, knowing in moments Sebastian would be back wanting all of me. My eyes opened slowly, and then rested on a single folder that was sitting on its own, as if someone had been reading it.

With shaking hands, I held my breath and tried to open the folder. It opened without hesitation. Licking my lips, I opened the folder classified level nine - the highest classification in my department. This was paperwork only Sebastian was able to view. It surprised me that I was able to open the folder. The only answer I could come up with was that the spell holding the folder sealed had already been broken by Sebastian and having been interrupted he had forgotten to reseal the folder.

Lucky me.

Inside the folder was a stack of paperwork deceiving to what had seemed to be a thin file. Scanning the first page, I realized I was reading a report. As my eyes jumped to the end of the report I could feel my eyes open wider. It was signed by Warden Rodulphus Lestrange, Bellatrix's husband! Flipping quickly through the reports, I felt my frustrations rise. The reports were brief and bare, lacking any names or details. Mostly, they seemed to contain supply orders. Food, clothing, a chessboard.

My eyes darted to the door. Were those footsteps approaching?

Taking the stack of paperwork, I lifted them with difficulty, hoping they wouldn't overturn on the floor. Leaving the last sheet turned up, my heart started to speed up. It was the overview sheet. Stamped on the top of the sheet was the name Brecqhou, Sark. I paused, thinking the name sounded familiar, but quickly moved on knowing I had little time left. Underneath was the Warden information. I read the next line, and felt an involuntary shiver run through me. The line said, "Dementors on location. Starting number - 25." I wondered what the current number was. Skipping to the next line I almost couldn't believe what I was reading. A list! Names, occupations, date of birth.. the facts went on and on. As I read the names I started to notice a pattern. Blackwell, Geoffery - Auror. Cromwell, Prunella - Auror. Somerset, Ethan - Auror. These were the missing employees from the Ministry of Magic's Department of Magical Law Enforcement! Scanning the list some more, I found the name I was looking for. "Kingsley", I whispered, picturing the Order member with awe. I quickly scanned the rest of the sheet of paper, trying to memorize everything before Sebastian returned.

I was just at the end of the page when the door opened.

"What are you doing?"

I was perched on the desk, trying to look natural as I used my body to block the open file.

"Waiting for you," I purred.

His eyes gleamed, as he reached back to lock the door. As he walked closer I tried to keep my body positioned to hide the file. I couldn't close it without looking suspicious but I had something else in mind.

As his hands reached for my waist, I quickly lifted my face up to his, kissing him forcefully. His body pushed into mine, as he grunted impatiently. Letting him push my body down on the desk, I squirmed as if I were as eager to continue as he was. Throwing my arms up in a seductive manner, I felt the file with my fingers and pushed it off the desk.

"Dammit!"

Sebastian stood up quickly, as I knew he would. Keeping up the act, I sat up, making sure my lips were pouted as I said, "It's just a file, darling." I reached up to finish unbuttoning his shirt, but he pushed my hands away forcefully.

"Get up," he ordered coldly.

I stood up, feeling sheets of paper under my feet crumple loudly. Sebastian swore again.

"Just get out," he shouted angrily. "I should never have let you in here."

Pouting again, I swayed out of the office, making sure my tight skirt showed him a good view of my bottom, not that he was thinking about that. He was distracted by the file, and honestly so was I.

As I closed the door behind me, it took all I had in me to go back to my desk when all I really wanted to do was race home and send a coded message to the Wizarding Newspaper. I had so much to tell the Order!
