A Woman Scorned (Indigo)
Author: Travis
Date:   11-20-11 14:50

Since arriving at Hogwarts this morning Indigo keeps expecting Anne Kendrick to show up, flirt heavily with him, and remind him of their standing date. Only they've had that date, she's no longer at Hogwarts, and Anne's last name isn't even Kendrick. It's Harkiss.

Indigo never expected the sting of Anne going out with him one night and having a great time only the very next morning to meet someone and elope that same day to still be there after nearly three months. It's not as though Anne and he had been an item. He dated before she graduated Hogwarts and has been on dates since that night they went out. Indigo has had to admit to himself that he liked Anne a whole lot more than he ever let on and after that one date was so great, he'd been looking forward to more with her.

One of the kittens Indi brought leaps from the arms of the girl who'd been holding it. The kitten nimbly maneuvers around feet, Indi going in pursuit. While on the Hogwarts Pet Society table, the kittens can't go far thanks to a charm but once someone has moved a kitten from the table, an escape is possible.

The gorgeous little Norwegian Forest Cat, this one with startling jade green eyes, ends its running romp at the side by side tables Aaron Miller has set up for both the Muggle Studies Club and the Yearbook Club. There is a splash of what was once hot chocolate puddled on the floor and the kitten has stopped to inspect, giving the cooled chocolate milk several experimental laps, trying to decide if it likes the chocolate taste with the milk.

Indi scoops the playful little cat up and starts back to the Pet Society table, though progress is slow thanks to the extremely cute kitten he's carrying. He's already had two students wanting to know who much this little guy costs and wouldn't at all be surprised if more inquire by day's end. That's true of all the kittens Indigo brought today. All are very cute, rather intelligent, and extremely people oriented.

Finally arriving back at the table, Indi goes to return the Norwegian Forest Cat to the basket, which is empty because all the other kittens are being loved on at the moment, when a sort of gnarled hand reaches over and whisks the cat from his grasp. Hogwarts caretaker Argus Filch stands there nuzzling the kitten, which is now emitting a very loud purr.

"Such a nice kitty," Mr. Filch says. Indigo is about to agree when he realizes that Filch wasn't speaking to him but to the cat.

Filch cuddles and caresses the Norwegian Forest Cat then exchanges it for one of the other kittens. He eventually makes it through the entire litter that Indigo brought, paying little attention to the students around him, to Jolyon, or to Indigo but lavishing affection on each kitten in turn.

Just across the aisle from the Hogwarts Pet Society table, Indigo notices Mrs. Norris. The elderly cat is sitting extremely erect, tail wrapped around her body, eyes fixed each kitten as Mr. Filch croons and cuddles them. Glaring really. Narrowed slits that burn with hatred.

Indigo really hopes that Mrs. Norris does not choose to act that woman scorned here in the middle of all these students. Based on the older cat's expression, that would not be a pretty sight to behold and Indigo would have to get involved to protect these sweet little kittens he brought that are now the objects of her ire.

Secrets
Author: Griet
Date:   11-20-11 15:19

Griet untangled herself from Oberon's limbs and slipped out of bed, wrapping her bed sheet around herself in an attempt at modesty. One of the nice things about no longer living at home was that she could have Oberon stay over and not worry about what her parents thought. Also, after last week's full moon, Griet had thought it was time to take the plunge and finally let Oberon see her with all her clothes off. She didn't tell him that somebody else had seen it all first.

The night with Tucker had passed rather uneventfully, thanks to the Wolfsbane Potion they'd both ingested. They'd fallen asleep rather quickly, separated by the steel bars between them, and Griet, at least, had slept through the entire night. She'd awoken after her transformation back into a witch and found Tucker's cage empty. She'd been under a blanket, which could only have meant that Tucker had draped one over her after waking up and leaving his own cage. Her cage door had been open, too.

She'd hastily gotten dressed and gone back to her flat, wondering how much Tucker had seen and already knowing the answer. It had been unavoidable with the way the cages had been arranged. Her mind had inevitably begun to wonder if he'd liked what he'd seen. Griet had never gotten the impression that he was interested in her, but he'd always been very friendly.

She dropped the sheet onto the bathroom floor and stepped into the shower. She quickly showered and then stepped out, wrapping herself up in a towel. She used another to dry her hair and padded out into the bedroom, where Oberon was still sleeping.

He had found a job tending the bar at The Rotting Flesh in Knockturn Alley. Griet wished he would have found work somewhere else, if only because Knockturn Alley saw a rough crowd and she worried that he might find himself in a dangerous situation. Not that he couldn't handle himself. And he was a Slytherin alumnus, after all.

Oberon was quite pleased with his job, however, and often boasted about all the free drinks he received. What he didn't tell Griet was that he sometimes gave pretty witches drinks on the house––but that wasn't often because pretty witches didn't usually frequent The Rotting Flesh.

Griet wasn't the jealous sort of person, but Oberon was. He knew how he would react if he knew a wizard was giving her any kind of attention. Griet knew it too, which was why she decided not to tell him that she had seen another wizard naked, even if the nakedness had been entirely innocent.

She went to her dresser and looked for something to wear. Term was just a few short weeks away. Until then, Griet planned on getting to know campus and her new home of Stratford-upon-Avon. She hadn't applied for a job, mostly because her parents had agreed to pay for her education, room and board. They wanted her to concentrate on her studies without the distraction of a part-time job.

Griet could have found a job for the summer until the start of Michaelmas Term, but it was nice not having any responsibility. That would all change very soon.

She pulled on a pair of jeans and a sweater and then turned to find Oberon waking up. "What time is it?" he mumbled in between a yawn.

"Midmorning," Griet said. "I was thinking about doing a Shakespeare tour today. Want to come along?"

"That's something Muggle isn't it?" Oberon asked, swinging his legs over the side of the bed. He got up and walked stark naked to Griet, kissing her on the cheek, before continuing on to the bathroom.

"I think I will pass."

"Okay," Griet said, a little disappointed. "Going to see Gervaise, then?"

"He was wanting to play laser tag, so I think we'll meet up in Hogsmeade for lunch. I have to work this evening."

Oberon relieved himself and then turned on the hot water in the shower. "You should stop by. You haven't visited me once since I started my job."

Griet sighed. She really didn't want to. "If I'm not too tired after my tour, I'll stop by tonight."

Oberon nodded. "Good. I'll buy you a drink." He stepped into the shower then, leaving Griet alone to her thoughts.

Unexpected Visitor
Author: Plum
Date:   11-20-11 18:43

The two blouses she's trying to decide between clutched in one hand, Plum pulls closed the short, silky robe she's wearing over a red pencil skirt and hurries through the flat to the door. A check through the peephole, something Auror Anthony has drilled into her to do even if calling out who's there and getting a reply, let's her know it's Clementine Whitehorn.

"Clementine! Hello, this is surprise. Did I forget something at work?"

"No, nothing like that. You aren't dressed. I shouldn't have come over unannounced."

"Don't be silly. Come in, sit. I was dressed. Sort of. Would you like anything to drink? Or something to eat?"

"I should go, let you get dressed."

"No, really. I was up early and took Alex to Blossom's in Hogsmeade. When I got back, Anthony was still here and not dressed ," Plum colors faintly. "After Anthony had left I started trying on a few things, trying to decide what to pack for the honeymoon and trying to decide what to wear tonight and for a few things this coming week such as the rehearsal dinner."

Clementine gives Plum a knowing smile. "If I came home to a man like Anthony still in bed and no little ones around to interrupt... Let's just say I can't blame you. Now that I have thoroughly embarrassed you, I'll tell you why I'm here. I thought if you were available I'd treat you to lunch."

"That's so nice of you but, forgive me for asking, why?"

"You need more than a few minutes to just sit back, relax, and breath. Tonight is your hen party and this next week is packed with last minute parties and wedding details. This time next week you will be doing any number of those last minute details before your wedding Saturday night. I know I should have checked with you yesterday before you left the office but was hoping you'd have a couple of hours now to let me treat you to a leisurely lunch."

"A long leisurely lunch sounds so nice."

"Then say yes and I promise I that while we're out I won't make one innuendo filled double entendre about the honeymoon."

Plum can't help but laugh. "Yes, lunch would be lovely but first, help me decide on a few things? What do you think of this skirt with one of these blouses for changing into before leaving the reception?"

"Hmmmm. The cream lace blouse is nice with the red skirt but let's get a look at what else you've got in mind."

"You don't like this, do you?"

"The skirt and both blouses are perfectly nice but this is something you'd wear to work. You have a jacket to go with the skirt, don't you?"

"Yes, but what's that got to do with it."

"Let me have a look at your closet and while we're at it, you can show me the lingerie for the honeymoon."

"I have some very sexy lingerie, thank you very much, and I expect I'll get a few other things. A school friend from Hogwarts, Holly Marks, is giving me a lingerie party Monday afternoon."

"I still want to have a look." Clementine stands, takes Plum by the hand and heads for the door to the hall. "Your bedroom is this way I take it."

Plum wordlessly allows herself to be led, not sure if having Clementine help with her wedding week and honeymoon wardrobe is a good thing or not.

Trolling the Booths
Author: Adina Blackwood
Date:   11-21-11 13:15

Arthur and I had wandered into the Great Hall by the time Club Day was already in full swing. There were already bunches of people wandering through the expanse of booths and sampling the treats at the different booths and small items that were kept at the booths and even the finger foods that were set on the side tables for those at Club Day.

"What are you interested in looking at?" Arthur asked and I shrugged lightly.

"I am thinking maybe Dueling Club, Hogwarts Pet Society, and I think Gobstones with Professor Black. I might even see what production the Drama Club is going to be doing. Since I'm not doing Quidditch this year, I will need something to occupy my time between homework and the like." I said looking over the various booths for a moment before turning to Arthur. "What about you?"

Arthur thought for a moment before answering. "I am thinking Dueling Club, Debate with Professor Douglass and the Muggle Studies Club with Professor Miller." He said, sliding a hand through his hair before he curled an arm around my waist.

"Alright, you go check out the muggle studies and debate booths, and I will go check out Gobstones and the Pet Society and we will meet up for Dueling Club sign ups." I said and gave him a quick peck on the cheek.

"Sounds like a plan." He said and we parted ways with promise to meet up in a little while. Arthur immediately went to go speak with Professor Miller about the Muggle Studies Club, and I turned my attention to the Hogwarts Pet Society first, laughing as the kittens that weren't currently being loved on and admired tumbled over each other within the basket that Indigo had brought with him.

"They are too cute. I've a hawk and a cat, the cat refused to budge and come with me this year unlike last year, and so Hermes came with me this year...Hermes is my hawk." I said with a smile.

I fell into conversation with Professor Kent and Indigo McFusty. We talked for several moments and I got to hold the kitten that had proven to be an escape artist earlier in the morning, and signed up, looking forward to the first meeting of the Hogwarts Pet Society.

Once I was done with Professor Kent and Indigo McFusty, I headed over to talk to Professor Black for a few minutes about Gobstones, and in turn signed up for that, knowing well that it would help fill out my time. Beyond that, I headed over to the Drama Club, grabbed a pamphlet and pondered auditioning for the play, The Wizard of Oz, and told Mr. Valentine that I would think about trying out for the play.

Beyond that, I headed toward the Dueling Club booth and waited for Arthur who was still talking to Professor Douglass about the Debate Club. I offered Professor Somerset a smile as well as Professor Isuki and we started talking, soon enough Arthur came over to join us and after a few minutes, after signing up we both head to look at the other booths and ultimately retreat from the Great Hall and head to the Common Commons for some studying (not snogging, just studying).

What To Join?
Author: Errol
Date:   11-21-11 16:10

Errols stands just inside the Great Hall, taking everything in. The place looks totally different from breakfast a few hours ago. He carries a sheet listing the clubs that someone had shoved at him in the Ravenclaw common room when one of the prefects was reminding those there of Club Day today. He's not sure which prefect it was other than not Alastor, who is his roommate. Errol's been at Hogwarts less than three full days now and he's still trying to learn the names of people in his class, or year as they call it here. At least he knew the word prefect and didn't have to ask what that is. His old school didn't use that label but Errol's read it in a few books and heard it used on a British radio program he used to follow.

A cursory glance at the list yesterday had Errol deciding he'd check out the Pet Society and the Athletics Club. He doesn't have a pet, or not now anyway. He used to. Errol is taking Care of Magical Creatures and likes it so Pet Society might be okay. Athletics Club is definitely of interest. Back home he was on his school's track and swim teams. Here there's only Quidditch, a sport that has a following in the States but isn't huge like over here. Errol knows there are schools in the US with Quidditch teams, just not his old one. There were other teams there but Errol was only part of the two and he belonged to a couple of clubs as well.

One was a cooking club. Errol had joined when he was thirteen and having his first crush. The crush hadn't lasted but a couple of weeks but even in such a short time he'd really liked the club and learning how to cook so he'd stuck with it.

The other club has been had been involved in community outreach. The club had done everything from helping turn a donated section of land into a local park to reading to the elderly to visiting people in the hospital.

Errol had also been part of the Honor Society and his school's student council but neither had been categorized as clubs per se. Honor Society was based strictly on grades and to get on student council required being nominated by a teacher and then being elected by the students in your class. Errol is too new here to go sign up for the Hogwarts Student Council and he's not sure they'd let him sign up for Honor Society when he's not at Hogwarts under the most auspicious of reasons. Errol knows it's not that sort of honor, or doesn't think so anyway. He actually has no idea what the Honor Society at Hogwarts entails.

Errol walks slowly, eyes going back and forth from the list in his hand to the club names displayed at each table. Book Club might be okay. He does like to read a lot.

Dance Club. Maybe. Would depend on what that involves.

Dueling would be really cool but while it might be part of Defense Against the Dark Arts class, would he be allowed to join a club for it? Does the club go on duels to other schools? He'd definitely not be allowed to do that. Nothing off campus for Errol. Uncle Ross made that perfectly clear. Not even field trips with a class.

Yearbook might be okay. Newspaper too.

Muggle Studies Club. Errol's heard interesting things about the guy that teaches it, like how he actually teaches useful stuff about Muggles and their world. He never took the equivalent class back home but Mrs. Fordham's classes tended to involve her bringing in some Muggle device she found fascinating but that did not actually work properly, if at all, on campus, so she'd try to describe how it operated. Errol got to witness it once when he was new to the school and during his study hall once day he was asked to take her a message. It was about as dull as dishwater. He wonders how the guy here solves that problem, or maybe he doesn't but makes it all more interesting than Mrs. Fordham ever managed.

Errol walks around, sticking to the middle of the makeshift aisles, taking note of each of the tables, double checking to see if all the ones of the list are here and if there are more clubs than what are listed. After he's made a pass by all the tables, he sees Megara Flynn and another girl both eating cookies, only here they are called biscuits. Biscuits always put him in mind of butter and jelly or honey, or white gravy heavy with black pepper. He'll stick to saying cookies. Whatever you call them, the ones the girls have look good.

Megara spots him and smiles so to be polite Errols smiles back and speaks. "Hi, Megara."

"Errol, do you remember Jill from the classes we have with the Gryffindors?"

"Yeah, hi. Sorry, but until now I didn't know your name."

"Jill Prewitt. We have Ancient Runes together too, which has all four houses."

"Right. That was on Thursday. I'm still learning my schedule and there are two classes I've not even been to yet."

Megara says, "Astronomy's one. That's Tuesday night. What's the other?"

"Fitness & Athletics. Those cookies look good."

"Cookies? Oh, these sugar biscuits. They're on a table over there," Megara points back the other direction.

Jill waves to someone and tells Megara, "There's Alexa. I need to tell her something. Nice meeting you officially, Errol."

Megara starts to say goodbye already turning to follow Jill only to ask, "Errol, you're roommates with Alastor. Have you ever heard him mention me?"

"No, sorry, not that I remember."

"If he does, let me know what he says. Please? He'd never say anything around Jill. She's one of his cousins."

"Um, okay. Sure."

"Thanks. Bye!"

Errol stands there a few second longer, hoping he didn't just make a big mistake telling her sure. Can't do anything about it now. Might as well go get a cookie.

Not one but two cookies in hand and the list shoved in a jean pocket, Errol tells himself it's time to actually approach a few of the tables and find out what's what. Athletic's Club first. Spotting it across the floor, he takes steps in that direction, hoping that Uncle Ross didn't tell the school Errol's not to join any clubs and failed to mention it to Errol along with all his other dictates.

Herbology Club
Author: Marzipan
Date:   11-21-11 18:22

"Thanks for agreeing to help out this year," Marzi said to Lawrence.

They sat next to each other at a table filled with potted dog flowers. Like the Hogwarts Pet Society, Professors Ravenscroft and Masterson had decided to lure students to their table with something cute. They had mature plants like cockerspaniels, black labradors, and golden retrievers, which barked happily each time students approached. There were also young plants––mere puppies––that were even cuter.

"Thanks for asking if I wanted to help," Lawrence replied with a smile. "Though my schedule will be more crowded than ever this year."

"That's right. You've signed up to take courses at St. Emrys."

"Yeah. I'm looking forward to going back to school."

Marzi smiled. "I couldn't take St. Emrys on on top of everything else in my life. I admire you for your efforts."

"Thanks. It won't be easy."

The lull in visitors ended just then with the arrival of Sarah Edwards and Beatrix Vanderbilt.

"Cute flowers," Sarah gushed. "I like that one in particular," she added, pointing to a puppy with distinct markings on its furry face.

"That's a Merle Chihuahua," Lawrence said.

"What about that one?" Beatrix asked, pointing to the juvenile dog flower next to the Merle. It was white and showed its small, white teeth.

"That's a Westie," Marzi replied.

She and Lawrence ended up identifying all the varieties of dog flower at the table. It had the desired result, though. Both girls signed up for the Herbology Club.

The Ravenclaws went to the snack table next, leaving Marzi and Lawrence with only each other for company for the moment.

"I was thinking we could begin with a winter garden for our first meeting. What do you think?" Marzi asked Lawrence. They launched into a discussion on the idea, debating plants like arugula, onions and radishes, which were best sown around this time of year if desiring winter produce. They talked until another group of students came around and then after the group left, talked some more about it and other ideas.

Serious Discussion (Olive)
Author: Emerald Green
Date:   11-22-11 12:15

There are a few tables within view of the snacks table. Olive and Alexa are at one of those tables trying to decide what clubs to be involved with this term. They'd both been active last term though Alexa hadn't been quite as involved. As a fifth year, she had a full course load, was on the IQT team, and had OWLs to take. That would have been Olive if not for having been on one of the ones sent to Happy Haven.

Reaching for her mug of frothy hot chocolate Alexa sighs, "I just can't decide."

"I definitely want to be in Photography Club again," Olive says. "Yearbook was fun."

"Drama Club. Dancing. There are just too many to choose from and not enough time in my schedule. You don't suppose I'd be granted a Time Turner if I petitioned for one, do you?"

"We learned in class that getting one is not exactly easy but I am betting if you explain it's so we can participate in more school clubs you'd get one in a flash."

Totally off topic Alexa nods in the direction of a first year. Olive recognizes her as one of the new Slytherins. "I like her purse. I head her tell someone it's donkey and cabana. I have no idea what that means."

Olive starts laughing, some of the hot chocolate she just sipped unattractively spewing out. Grabbing for napkins, half choked now, she croaks, "Dolce & Gabbana."

"Dolce & Gabbana?" Alexa asks, helping mop up the hot chocolate.

"It's a designer brand."

"I don't know that one. Is it new?"

"No, but it's Muggle so that's why you probably aren't familiar with it."

"Huh. She doesn't strike me as the type to frequent Muggle shoppes but then, I don't know her other then in passing to say hello as we come and go from the common room."

"I wouldn't have thought it either but then I heard her say something about shopping on Oxford Lane. I don't know about an Oxford Lane but there's an Oxford Street in London. I've been there a few times. The first was with Mom and Dad. It's miles of stores and restaurants."

"Sounds fun. Over Christmas holiday if we can, we should get Jill, Etta, and Marjani and go."

"Definitely! Okay, back to clubs. I wonder how Debate Club is."

"Do you think it's mostly got boys?"

"Now you're sounding like Jill."

"So sue me. Here, I'll even sound more like her. Professor Douglass is cute and he sponsors Debate Club."

"If cuteness of the sponsor is a factor in our decision making then we have to consider Dueling Club, Newspaper, Poet's Society, Pet Society," Olive ticks off.

"Don't say Muggle Studies or Yearbook."

"Why not? They qualify."

"Because while Professor Miller might be the sponsor and yes, he is very nice looking, I need not remind you that Aaron is a not overly distant cousin."

"No one's asking you to commit incest."

This puts the girls to giggling and it's several minutes more before they get back to seriously discussing what clubs to sign up for this term.
