Becoming a Fairy Princess
Author: Lilac Middleton
Date:   01-08-12 12:41

Lilac stood on her tip toes putting on her pretty light blue mask. She was proud of the mask as she had made it herself. There were tiny rosebuds around the crown of the mask and it was a pretty glittery blue. She had tied a green ribbon on each end of the mask to hold it onto her face and placed tiny pink pearls near the tip of the crown. She soothed down her fairy wings, and pink and blue dress. Then slipped into tiny pink slippers. She was all ready to make her grand entrance into the great hall.

"I don't know why you insist on the mask." Pippa said popping in behind her cousin. "Everyone will know its you."

"Its not that I don't want people to know it's me. It's part of the fairy costume."

"Whatever." Pip said. "Like my lamb costume?" She asked as Lilac turned around to face her tiny cousin.

"It looks very cute on you." She said. Pippa had decided to go as a tiny lamb. All decked out in a fury costume her mother had made her and sent her.

"Is William going to be your Fairy Prince tonight?" Cecila asked pulling up her fish tail. She was going as a mermaid. Lilac laughed.

"Maybe." She said with a grin.

"You do make a cute couple." Cee commented.

"Thank you." Lilac said. She had been quietly dating Will now for a few weeks. They were growing very fond of each other and she even had a kiss from him.

"I wonder where the boys are?" Pippa asked.

"Who knows, and who cares. I want some candy and Pumpkin juice." Lilac said scooping up her piggy.

"You are not taking Rosie to the party are you?"

"Why not?"

"A fairy princess wouldn't have a piggy with her." Pippa said laughing. Lilac pouted, and gave Rosie a sigh and a kiss on the head.

"I'll bring you something yummy to eat from the party, if you are good while I am gone." She said and placed Rosie down on the ground. The piggy looked up at her with sad eyes and Lilac whined a little bit.

"Suite yourself, but a Fairy Princess wouldn't have a piggy with her." Pippa said again. Lilac grinned.

"Well, I'm not a real Fairy Princess. I can't leave her all by herself." Lilac said scooping up Rosie. "Besides, I'll watch her."

"That's what you always say, and then she always gets into trouble." Cee said laughing.

"Well, she's on a leash. There isn't much damage she can do." Lilac countered.

"Whatever, can we just go please?" Cee said.

"Yep, I'm ready." Lilac nodded, holding her piggy close to her.

Poisoned Mushroom
Author: Nathaniel Ross
Date:   01-08-12 13:33

Nate was laid on his back in one of the beds of the Hospital Wing, still in his uniform. He had hoped he would still be able to attend the Halloween Feast but the sweets he had consumed all over the day had provoked him a stomachache.

Madam Pomfrey brewed him a potion that tasted like burnt food but the effect was revealing itself to be slow, although the old witch assured him that he could attend classes by tomorrow.

Nate heard some steps and the curtain was pulled over. He was hoping it would Madam Pomfrey so he could ask her for another dose of potion. However Phyllida was in front of him. She was wearing the most odd dress he had seen in his life, with what seemed to be live mushrooms. However the dress fit her in perfection and he wanted to complement for her fact if not the humiliation he was feeling right. He could be at the feast and hang out with her later instead of being laid here, like a baby with colic.

"I should have guessed you'd be here," Phyllida told him with an amused smile on her face.
"It was an accident. I feel from the stairs and I can't move my leg." The excuse flew over his mouth faster than a snitch.
"You fell right into the kitchen," she corrected him, sitting in the edge of the bed.
"Who told you?"
"Tim," and she laughed. In silence Nate made a mental note to jinx his friend later. Tim clearly didn't have the notion of when to keep his mouth shut.

"He shouldn't," Nate's brown eyes studied Phyllida and he was able to make with his lips what it seemed a shadow of a smile. The pain was taking over his facial expression. Maybe this could be his Halloween costume, Nate thought, since he was livid and pale like a corpse. "Oh but look at you…stunning."
"I'm a poisoned mushroom."
"You can be more poisoned than the sweets I had."
"I have deadly spores." There was a pause and then she asked out of the blue, after looking around : "How come Maggie your friend Maggie isn't visiting?"
"How come does that matter to you?"
"You tell me Nathaniel,"

It was hard for him to read the expression in her face. The stomachache was too strong for him to realize if she was jealous or was simply teasing.
"It shouldn't matter to you. It doesn't matter to me," he added.
"Fine," Phyllida said, quietly.
Another silence until he spoke:
"You are missing the whole fun because of me."
"It's not fun without you." Phyllida stated, poking his stomach.
"Auch!" he complained.

"Are you really sick?" there was doubt in her eyes and that made Nate reply to the question with a sharp irony in his voice:
"No, I'm just here pretending to be in pain. It's a Halloween trick. "
"Okay..."
He sighed and this time he said in a serious tone:
"I wanted to show you my costume so you could lecture me how ridiculous it is. I like when you lecture me."
"Oh...right. "
"You don't believe me?"
"Oh I do..."

And then she putted her hand on his chest. Nate's eyes opened wide, his pulse accelerating, as Phyllida bended. He felt the tips of her red hair in his cheeks and then suddenly her lips were in his as she kissed him. She broke the kiss moments later.
"What was that for?"
"Don't ask too many questions."

Nate looked around. They were surrounded by the curtains and there was no sign of Madam Pomfrey.
"No testimonies once again..."
She laughs and kisses him again.
"That was intended."

Then she jumped out of the bed, and told him to get well soon. Phyllida waved goodbye, and the last thing he saw were the mushrooms in her dress. Then the stomachache returned. He didn't need any of Madam Pomfrey's potions. What he wanted were Phyllida's kisses.

Leaving the Feast
Author: Ella
Date:   01-08-12 14:32

Ella and Francis sat next to each other at the Gryffindor table. Ella was dressed as Morgan le Fay. She wore black robes that were fashionably tattered so that they looked like cascading feathers. Her headpiece, a simple black headband, had real black feathers spellotaped on it by Ella herself.

Despite her efforts to choose a distinctly wizarding figure as inspiration for her costume, Ella still had to explain to everybody who she was. It made her wish that she would have brought one of her Morgana wizarding cards with her to the Halloween Feast.

Francis was dressed like Captain Electron, complete with dreadlocks. He wore a guitar strapped to his back. It was fake and had already gotten dented when he'd accidentally bumped into the door jamb upon entering the Great Hall. His fancy dress was more or less self-explanatory. His wig alone was a dead-giveaway.

The pair had spent the feast making each other laugh and stuffing themselves silly with all the food available at their table. They also spent all evening playing footsies under the table.

By the time dessert was served, they hardly had room for even one slice of cake. Both made a valiant effort, though, because dessert at a Hogwarts feast was something no one should ever pass up.

"Stick a fork in me, I'm done," Ella moaned, clutching her very full belly.

Francis picked up his abandoned cake fork and made to stick Ella in her side.

She pushed his arm away and laughed. "Stop."

"Why? You said stick a fork in you. I'm only doing what you asked me to do."

He tried again and laughed when Ella batted his arm away again.

"I think," she said, deciding then and there that she was ready to head back to Gryffindor Tower, "that I'm going to call it a night. There isn't anything else I can eat without making myself sick, and I just might already be to that point already."

She got up, but didn't go anywhere when she saw that Francis was also getting up from the bench.

"I'll escort you back."

"You don't have to," she told him. "You never did try the berry tart."

"I don't have any room for it now," he told her, patting his own belly. "Come on."

They set off and left the Great Hall. It was much quieter on the other side of the double doors.

"I can't decide if it's good or bad that our dormitory rooms are on the seventh floor," Ella said after a little while. They'd already climbed the marble staircase and were waiting for one of the moving staircases to come their way.

"It's good because we can walk off all the calories we just ingested," she went on, "but it's bad because I feel like I'm going to hurl right over the bannister."

"I wonder if anybody's ever done that before," Francis murmured with a mischievous grin.

"I don't even want to think about that," Ella replied.

They went a few levels higher and quickly found themselves out of breath. Francis pulled Ella to a nearby alcove. She started to sit down on a stone bench, but he pulled her towards him so that their faces were just inches apart.

For a moment, they just looked at each other. Then Francis bent his face towards Ella's and kissed her. She kissed him back, gently at first and then a little more eagerly. After a short while, they broke apart and smiled at each other.

Ella's smile soon faded. Francis furrowed his brow questioningly, but before he could ask her what was the matter, she bent over and threw up on his shoes.

Past Bedtimes
Author: Majandra
Date:   01-08-12 15:16

Georgie, dressed as a garden gnome, faded awhile ago. He did last past his usual bedtime thanks to the excitement of the Hogwarts Halloween Feast. The three year old had practically passed out on a helping of cheesy scalloped potatoes. He'd groggily protested George's taking him out of the Great Hall to the day care, not wanting to miss the sweets, but after his father promised to save some for him, Georgie promptly fell back asleep on George's shoulder.

The five year old Eternal-Black twins lasted a little longer. Shortly after the purple rose and the red dragon had also been taken to the day care word came from Sirius that the twins had a little sister named Zaria Beth. Since the twins would probably wake back up when George and Maj picked all the kids up from day care to go home, Maj had decided that would be soon enough to tell them; or, they could even wait until morning. Hearing the news James and Mira might wake fully up and be energized for several more hours.

Eight year old Miranda is still going strong even though it's now past her bedtime as well. Upon seeing the Glinda the Good Witch costume Maj was sewing for the Drama Club's production of The Wizard Of Oz, Miranda decided she wanted something along those lines for tonight only in shades of pale and dark pink and many, many more glittery sparkles.

When first debating his own fancy dress, George had tongue in cheek told Maj he was going to dress as Fred. After more serious consideration, he still went for the laugh. George is dressed like the Fat Lady and his entire costume looks like a picture frame in which he's moving. Majandra is a bubbling cauldron with the upper part of her body the stirrer.

The feast won't go on much longer and as they really should get Miranda home and settled down, George and Maj box up a selection of the desserts as promised, make their goodbyes, gather up Miranda, who by that time is sitting in the midst of some girls at one of that house tables, and exit the Great Hall. As they pick up the other three children from the day care, Maj wonders how many professors did as she did and not assign homework for her classes that meet tomorrow, knowing that most students would be at the feast until the very last. As there are sure to be some who grumble tomorrow about having to stay up later than usual to finish homework, Maj knows she'll learn soon enough who gave homework and who didn't.

Slightly Stuffed (Mason)
Author: Pyrrhus
Date:   01-08-12 17:08

From the foot of his bed where he's collapsed in a heap, mummy wrapped Boris groans, "Are you sure Astronomy wasn't canceled?"

So glad that he'd not had to drag his overly stuffed belly all that far when leaving the Great Hall for Slytherin House, Mason wonders if he'll be able to eat anything the rest of the week. "Sadly, I'm sure."

"I can't move."

"You've still got a little time and you don't even have to change out of costume."

"That's good because if I could move, unwinding all this would make me hurl."

Mason would laugh at that if not for the fact Boris isn't joking. Besides laughing would jar his stomach and he's not up for that yet. You'd think that by now with a number of Hogwarts feasts under his belt Mason would know how to pace himself better and how to eat smaller portions.

As he lies there staring up at the canopy of his bed, Mason remembers he's still got to finish up something for Herbology tomorrow and that he's not completed reading everything for Astronomy tonight. Mason pries himself up, echoing Boris's groans as he does. Before scrounging in his backpack and trunk for the things he needs, Mason divests himself of part of his costume. Knowing that there would be less of a chance of there being a duplicate of his idea, Mason had pulled from his Muggle roots, wearing a costume inspired by the video game Halo. He leaves the foundation on but does divest himself of a few of the bulkier accessories before getting what he needs for Astronomy and Herbology then going do the common room to work.

Time to leave for Astronomy class will be here way too soon so he'd best be prepared for it. If necessary, he can get up a little early in the morning to finish reading for Herbology.

Silly
Author: Jolyon
Date:   01-08-12 17:44

Sometime before the start of the dessert course, Jolyon moved back to his old seat, allowing Marzipan to reclaim the one next to Illyria. Marzi had returned to the Great Hall without her husband, who had presumably stayed at the daycare with their children or taken them to their personal quarters.

Like much of the Hogwarts staff, Jolyon had arrived at the Halloween Feast in fancy dress. He had a round, feathery body, wings, and a long, sharp beak, which he'd removed so that he could eat. His fancy dress fit the topic he'd taught his sixth year class this afternoon. Jolyon was a golden snidget.

Did he look silly? Absolutely! He'd gotten a laugh out of his sixth years, who'd had trouble concentrating on the lesson. Never mind the fact that the lesson had taken place at the Modesty Rabnott Golden Snidget Reservation. Jolyon had looked silly not only before his class but in public too!

When he'd entered the Great Hall at the start of the feast, he'd seen many heads turn in his direction and heard much giggling at his expense. Looking out at the sea of faces from his vantage point at the staff table, he'd seen students pointing him out to their friends.

He was glad he was making an impression, even if all he was doing was making people laugh.

The main course had long left the tables and the dessert platters were nearly empty. Jolyon had eaten a little bit of everything and felt quite full, though no one could see his distended belly thanks to his snidget suit. Maybe tomorrow he would take a page out of Dante's book and go for a run.

He stayed in the Great Hall until most of the students had cleared out and then patrolled the corridors until curfew.

Twinkle, Twinkle
Author: Dante Knight
Date:   01-08-12 20:05

On the walk from the Great Hall to Dante's residence on the sixth floor, neither he nor his sister say much of anything, her twinkling costume emitting a steady changing rainbow of colors. Entering the flat she'd gone straight for the couch while he stood just inside the door, eyes going towards the small kitchen.

"Want some tea or coffee?"

"No, thank you. I am soooooooo full I don't think I could take even a small sip of something. Are all the special feasts like tonight?"

Moving to join her on the couch Dante responds, "I've only attended two others, an end of term and a start of term, but both were much like tonight."

They both go silent for a few seconds, both drowsy from the huge meal and the late hour, the room's only illumination the twinkling rainbow colors from the costume. There's a drawn out sigh followed by, "I can't visit you again if Eugene Quigley's going to be around. At least not with my own face."

"Yeah, I know."

Dante and his sister had been sitting near upper years Astronomy professor and her husband Eugene Quigley. Within minutes of Dante's initial introduction of his sister to the Quigleys Eugene made the comment, "Tamara, you look extremely familiar but I don't think we've met before."

About the time the desserts first began appearing on tables Eugene had said, "I haven't figured out yet why you look so familiar, Tamara, but give me a little time and I will. I'm usually pretty good with faces."

Dante takes off the wig he'd worn, gets up and puts on a light near a mirror so he can remove the facial hair necessary for his costume and so he can start transfigurating his features back to normal. He'd gone as Hogwarts founder Godric Gryffindor.

His sister sighs again, sinking lower on the couch, her gaily twinkling costume a stark contrast to her expression. "I can still visit as Tamara, just not when there's a chance of running into him. I could always alter my looks and be your cousin. What do you think of the name Mamie?"

"I think you quite like the name Mamie. Remember when you went through a spell of wanting that to be your new name every time we moved?"

"I was going through a phase where I was being a little defiant. I'd been Mamie and actually had made a friend. I was wanting a way for her to be able to write to me."

"It's exactly that sort of thing that made me want to get out of that lifestyle."

"I know. I felt that way during that phase. I'm not sure I could pinpoint when my feelings changed and I found I didn't mind it so much. Why do I have to look so much like her?"

"Luck of the genetic draw."

"One brother who looks like blend of our parents and another who looks like neither except for hair color. Are you sure you aren't adopted? Someone Mum and Dad picked up at a stop along the way?"

"I've heard the story often enough of how when Mum was pregnant with me, you kept asking her why she was getting so fat to be reasonably certain I'm not adopted."

"Maybe they mixed up babies. You in a pram. The real baby brother in a remarkably similar pram. One mum accidentally walking off with the wrong pram."

"Funny. You should consider going into comedy."

Taking advantage of Dante still at the mirror, she swings her legs up onto the couch, fully stretching out. "If I haven't said it yet, thank you for tonight. Other than Eugene seeing Mum's features in me, tonight was wonderful. All the creative fancy dress ideas, the excellent food. I'm glad I stayed an extra night."

"Yeah, me too."

Dante finishes at the mirror. "You need anything before I go to bed?"

His question goes unanswered and a closer inspection lets him know she's fallen asleep. Dante gets a blanket to spread over her, turns out the light near the mirror, and goes to his bedroom, a rainbow of twinkling colors coming through the blanket to illuminate his way.
