Refusing to do homework again
Author: Cailyn Spicer
Date:   11-05-07 10:44

Cailyn saw on the floor in the corner of the Common Common room. She had a pile of Muggle history books around her, a sketch book, and a box of chocolates she had bought during her last trip to Hogesmeade. There was also a notebook near by and her homework. Just in case she so desired to do it, which she didn’t. Cailyn had been falling behind on her home work lately again. She went on these highs and lows at Hogwarts. One minute throwing herself into her homework. The next minute, she was failing completely. It was clear by the day that she didn’t want to be at Hogwarts. Though with the new rules set by the Ministry of Magic there wasn’t much she could do about the situation.

So, Cailyn stayed, but she didn’t put in as much effort as she once had at the beginning of the semester. She was glad Christmas Break was coming up so she could get away from Hogwarts which had become more like a prison to her than a school. Plus she was looking forward to spending her entire break with Alex. They had not spent much time with each other of late.

Cailyn scanned the common common room, preferring it to the Pure Bloods only Common Common Room because it was quieter and not so fancy. She didn’t feel comfortable among all the fancy things in the Pure Bloods Common room, when she knew that the nons and halfs where not getting so spoiled. Besides, she had fancy things at home. She had hopped that Alex would be near by. But not finding him, she went back to her books.

She had been studying up on Queen Elizabeth the First for some odd reason. The queen’s story fascinated her. She loved reading about people in the Tudor time period and was hoping to visit some of the places where Queen Elizabeth might have walked while she was on Christmas Break. Though, she had not had a chance to discuss this with Alex. But, she was certain he wouldn’t mind showing her London. Besides, it would give them something to do.

Stretching out her legs, Cailyn gave a heavy sigh and slowly stood up. She brushed some crumbs off of her clothes as she had a snack earlier. She then, gathered her things and got ready to leave. She figured she might as well go find Alex and spend the rest of the day with him as she refused to do her homework.

Getting Tired
Author: Phinfilius
Date:   11-05-07 14:30

A particularly strong gust of wind buffets Phin on his now less than perfect broom. Much as he hates to do it, he knows what he's asking for from his mother for Christmas. Too bad since this had been an excellent broom and he'd already given his mom a list of ideas of what he'd like for Christmas. He'd ask his dad but it's the same thing - already given him a list of ideas.

Deak takes the Quaffle from Megara and with help from Jack and Phin as well as from Fritz and Alastor, works it to mid-pitch before passing it. Jack with the Quaffle now loses ground - or would that be air? - thanks to Bludgers sent at him from both Hufflepuff Beaters. Alastor intercepts one but Fritz is a hair late batting away the other before it catches the tip of Jack's broom handle.

Phin swoops in to help Jack, taking the Quaffle and, with Deak, moves it down the pitch. Phin also looks around to see what's up with the Seekers. This constantly fighting his broom to fly how he wants it to is starting to in this wind is starting to wear on him. He really hopes Daria can find the Snitch before Sophia and soon!

Reaching the three hoops Sage is tending, Phin and Deak act as though Deak has the Quaffle again. Deak moves in to set up to shoot then with Sage looking for the Quaffle to deflect Deak's shot when he makes it, Phin reveals the Quaffle from where he's had it hidden in his robes and easily lofts it through one of the rings.

Score for Ravenclaw but the team is still down by two goals, with the score now Hufflepuff with 40 to Ravenclaw's 20.

Another Goal Made
Author: Viktor Krum
Date:   11-05-07 15:53

The match has been going well with lots of action but with little scoring. It's a close game, only two goals separating the two teams. Unless the Snitch takes all day (if it goes into nighttime Viktor will call the game, what with this not being a professional match and thus not under the specific rules for professional play) to find and a number of goals get made in the meantime, this is definately one match with an outcome determined by which team gets the Snitch. Despite all the action and the effects of the frigid winds on the players, so far this match there's been only one foul and that was clearly an accident. It had to be called as a foul but nonetheless Viktor knows that Fritz Schnackenpfefferhausen never intended that Bludger to head into the stands.

Viktor's keeping a close eye on two of the players, Ariella Beck and Deacon Bennett. Both have injuries that are possibly worse than either realize, a negative of playing in low temperatures with a stiff breeze. Viktor's always relished such conditions, and still greatly enjoys swims in icy water; however, not everyone is made for this type of weather. Ariella may go to dismount her broom at game's end and find her knee so swollen she'll need help just swinging her leg over the broom handle. Deak's got his hand wrapped and for now seems to be playing well even with the injury but the few times Viktor's flown close enough that he can see fingertips poking out of the makeshift bandage, Viktor would wager that at least a couple of the fingers are both dislocated and broken.

Katherina and Alanna goes by Viktor in a streak of motion, Alanna passing the Quaffle to Katherina as they go. Eithne is keeping steady pace with them then pulls ahead. Katherina looks as though she's ready to pass the Quaffle to Eithne but Alastor gets in between them, sending a Bludger at Katherina.

Katherina retains her grip on the Quaffle but Phin is still able to grab it away from her as Katherina recovers from the wobble the Bludger hit caused. Alanna's not having any of that and swoops in to relieve Phin of the Quaffle before he can get too far with it. Jet helps out by sending a Bludger at Phin. Alanna streaks away with the Quaffle firmly in hand, the three Ravenclaw Chasers hot on her tail.

Alanna looks for an opening to pass, spotting Eithne. Eithne gets the Quaffle and is off like a shot down the pitch only to be hit with a Bludger from Fritz. Katharina flies by, a deep frown etching her features and Viktor hears a snatch of something Katherina is saying as Eithne and she speed by Viktor in pursuit of Jack now with the Quaffle, "... I was open... ."

Jack goes to pass to Deak but Alanna, who's playing better than some of the pros Viktor knows, steals it before it gets to Deak. She's gone in a blink toward Megara, passing to Katherina as they near the Ravenclaw Keeper. Katherina takes the shot and... it's good! Gabby announces, "Ten more points for Ufflepuff! Ze score eez now feefty to tweenty!"

Hitting (Alastor)
Author: Aaron Miller
Date:   11-05-07 18:56

Alastor grimaces at seeing and then hearing about the goal Hufflepuff just made. Being behind the entire match is NOT how he'd pictured his first ever real game going. In his frustration Alastor rears back to hit a bludger, catching himself just in time from hitting another player with the bat. Not only would that have been a foul, and on one of his own teammates at that, but it could have caused serious injury.

Alastor follows the bludger, setting up again for the hit. Pesky Alanna has the quaffle again so that's where Alastor sends the bludger. Her equally pesky sister, Ariella, intercepts the bludger, smacking it into Phin, the closest of the Ravenclaw chasers to her and a player too far from Alastor for him to get there in time for the save. Phin's poor broom ends up losing a little more of its tail, though thank Merlin not enough to make flying even more difficult for Phin.

Jet goes after the bludger that's just hit Phin but Fritz reaches it first. Alastor spots the second bludger and decides to go after it instead of waiting for Fritz to hit the other one, which Jet is probably going to go after anyway. Alastor gets there, having to swerve around Eithne, then Katherina, then Deak. In the span of these last few seconds Alanna's passed the quaffle to Katherina and now Katherina appears to be looking to hand it right back off, though Alastor doesn't know if she'll throw back to Alanna or pass it on to Eithne.

Alastor solves his little dilemma simply by slamming his bat on the bludger to send it straight to Katherina. It sails directly towards her front but she's too busy looking to get the pass off to notice. The next grimace Alastor makes is from the thinking how hard it's got to be for Katherina to take her first breath after getting hit by a bludger in the chest. At least it didn't seem to hit her hard enough to break anything. Much as Alastor enjoys sending a bludger into someone, he really doesn't want to break any bones.

Deak gives Alastor a thumbs up and swoops in to lift the quaffle straight out of the gasping Katherina's hand. Alastor shoots his cousin a grin then goes off in pursuit of a bludger to hit.

More Blocking
Author: Sage Porter
Date:   11-05-07 21:48

The wind whips something into Sage's already watery eyes, making them tear up even more. When Sage gets the bits of dirt or grit out of his eyes, he's shocked to see that Jack is directly in front of him and is in the process of throwing the Quaffle. Sage throws himself at the quaffle, his broom thankfully responding well or else Sage might have found himself falling. His fingers brush the quaffle, not enough to entirely block it but enough to deflect it from its path.

Alanna retrieves the ball and begins moving it away from Sage. Jack, Phin, and Deak have other ideas, hastily blocking Alanna. She dips down but Jack sticks with her. Alanna passes to Katherina, or tries to as Jack flails his arms enough that he messes up the pass attempt. He scoops up the quaffle and turns for another try at scoring.

Sage blocks again, this time easily, moving to catch the quaffle long before it gets to the center hoop. Sage hands off to Katherina, wondering why she was so quick to shoot forward when Eithne was right there for him to pass the quaffle to. There's some friction there that he's never seen before in practice. Sage doesn't dwell on whatever it is between the two girls long because he's too busy avoiding a stray bludger. Sage pulls out of the way, missing getting hit by less than an inch.

Jet darts after the bludger that's now heading right for Sophia, so intent in her hunt for the snitch that she doesn't see the bludger coming nor does she hear Sage and Jet shouting to her. It doesn't help that the wind is blowing towards them, making it harder for their voices to carry to her. Jet can't reach the bludger in time and it hits Sophia in the side. Gagging, Sophia bends sideways and Sage imagines hearing a crunching sound though it's after the fact so he knows it's just his imagination working overtime.

Sage has to give his attention to the chasers again because somehow Phin's gotten the quaffle and is coming in for another goal attempt. Sage deflects the quaffle, which bounces off his arms. Alanna sweeps it up and takes off, giving Sage a free moment to look around for Sophia. She's back to searching for the snitch but to Sage she looks, as the saying goes, a little green around the gills.

Assisting
Author: Jet
Date:   11-06-07 11:48

In the last twenty minutes the quaffle has changed hands more times than Jet could keep up with even if he weren't so busy going after bludgers. There's a flash of red between two of the Ravenclaw chasers, Phin and Jack. Jet's just reaching a bludger and hits it at Phin, sending it knocking into the chaser's already mangled broom tail. It's enough of a blow that Phin has to fight for control of an already hard to control broom. The quaffle drops free and there's a scramble to get it.

Katherina emerges triumphant from the pack. Jet hits a bludger at Deak, stopping the Ravenclaw chaser from lifting the quaffle from Katherina's hand. Jet spots the other bludger and goes after it but Fritz gets there first so Jet simply goes after the bludger after Fritz has hit it, stopping it before it reaches Katherina.

Jet swings back hit bat only to be hit from behind by the second bludger courtesy of Alastor. The younger boy darts after the one that's just hit Jet. Fritz and Ariella are vying to reach the one Jet had just been after. In the meantime Jack's gotten the quaffle from Katherina only to have Alanna take it right back.

Jet speeds to guard Alanna, flying to the side and slightly to the front, watching for any bludgers sent her way. When one does come the timing couldn't be more perfect. It's just as Alanna's reaching the Ravenclaw tended rings and is aiming the quaffle for a goal attempt. Jet meets the bludger meant for her and sends it straight at Megara. The bludger hits Megara's shoulder, keeping the Ravenclaw keeper from reaching the quaffle in time for Hufflepuff's sixth goal. Hufflepuff now leads 60 to 20!

Zat's Got To 'Urt
Author: Gabrielle Delacour
Date:   11-06-07 15:16

Gabby pauses in her match commentary to take a sip of the hot chocolate Estella got her a short time ago. Gabby's already had far more to drink this morning but the hot beverage makes her feel warm on the inside on a day that's been, so far, much colder than usual for early December at Hogwarts. The drawback to all the hot chocolate is that if the game doesn't end soon Gabby's going to have to get either Estella or Rosalinda to fill in for her while she makes a visit to the lavatory.

Setting the hot chocolate aside, Gabby begins again by reminding the crowd of the current score. "Ufflepuff 'as seexty points. Raveenclaw 'as tweenty. Zere 'as onlee been one defeenate sighteeng of ze Sneetch so far but per'aps Sophia or Daria weel spot eet again soon."

Gabby takes another quick sip of her drink before noting, "Pheen 'as ze Quaffle... 'e shoots... Excellent save by Sage Porter! Alanna Beck weeth ze Quaffle now. Ooooh. Zat was close! Nice try weeth ze Bludger Alastor. Alanna steel weeth ze Quaffle but look out! Ze Quaffle 'as gone to Jack Emerson weeth a veery sneaky steal!"

Gabby's eyes stray to Sophia Hall, the Seeker totally engrossed in finding the Snitch. Gabby's voice joins those of a few of the players' warning Sophia, "Look out for ze post!" Half a second later Gabby is saying, "Oooph! Zat must 'ave hurt veery much! Coach Krum eez checking Sophia's 'ead. She weel 'ave quite ze dragon's egg on 'er forehead."

"For zose of you 'oo were watcheeg Sophia fly eento ze goal post, Alanna attempted to score but Megara nicely blocked. Pheen now 'as the Quaffle... make zat Jack. Jack Emerson 'as the Quaffle... Eithne attempts to steal... watch for zat Bludger! Zat was a close one. Eithne was not heet but she also deed not get ze Quaffle..."

Gabby reaches for her hot chocolate, thinking this is a good game. Lots of action to keep spectators interested, neither team taking a huge lead over the other, good playing with few fouls. Now though, like many others, Gabby is wondering where the Snitch, not because she truly wants the game to end but mainly because she's starting to get cold enough that the thought of going inside is starting to sound appealing.

A holiday vacation decided
Author: Alice Cullen
Date:   11-06-07 19:42

It had been days since she had last predicted that something horrible would happen to Crispin. All Alice could think about it seemed was Maggie’s handsome nephew. It wasn’t that she was in love with him, though he had money and was very hansom. No, it was more the fact that she was worried sick about Crispin. All Maggie had talked about since he showed up with Crispin. And Alice felt as if she now knew everything there was to know about the man.

Strangely enough, Crispin had not showed back to Alice’s store. Though, he did send a letter telling them that he was fine and taking a small vacation from work. He also sent Alice some flowers and chocolates thanking her for her prediction.

A prediction which had not come true, much to Alice’s surprised. Every prediction she ever had always came true. She was grateful that Crispin wasn’t hurt, but it was just strange to her that she didn’t predict something right. Unless, her prediction didn’t come true because, Crispin had listened to her warning, and was trying to change fate. This wouldn’t surprise her. But all the same, Alice couldn’t believe that one of her predictions where not coming true.

Alice frowned as she looked into her crystal ball trying to see Crispin’s future even though he wasn’t in the room. Of course, all she saw was a bunch of cloud. She pushed the ball away and stood up.

Alice sighed, as she stood up. Maybe she was working to her and maybe it was her who needed the vacation and not Crispin. Her store had only been opened a few months, and Alice had not had one day off since. Yes, it was time for her to take a small vacation.

Since she decided to take a vacation, the only problem she had now, was to figure out where to go. She could always go home but what fun would that be? Alice smiled suddenly, she would go to visit her sister in Greece over the holidays and take Jasper with her! That way the two of them could have time together. And what better way to spend the holidays then in the beautiful country of Greece?

Game Over (Daria)
Author: Blossom
Date:   11-06-07 20:10

Even from a distance Daria can see the bruise forming on Sophia's head. If it looks this bad now, imagine how bad it's going to be by tomorrow. What Daria can't figure out is how Sophia ended up flying into the post. She wasn't busy looking at the Snitch, wasn't doding a Bludger, wasn't accidently forced into it, nor was it any of the other things in a match that might cause it.

From what Daria could tell, it was Sophia simply not paying attention to where she was going. Daria doesn't get that. If it were something like hot in pursuit of the Snitch and being zoned in on it to the point of not seeing the goal post, Daria can undertand that. But to just be meandering along and not see it? Daria shakes her head, wondering if perhaps Sophia's not as suited to a competitive match like this.

Ducking to avoid being conked on the head by someone's dangling feet as the player, Ravenclaw by the colors, flies just overhead, Daria can't help but feel a growing sense of frustration. She's seen the Snitch only once and as far as she knows Sophia hasn't seen it at any other time either. Daria is cold and this morning before the match she wasn't in the least bit hungry so she only had one slice of buttered toast to eat. Now her stomach is starting to feel rather empty. She's more than ready to spot the Snitch again and this time get it!

As if reading her mind, a fluttering of gold passes by no more than an inch from Daria's nose. She turns her head to track it but the Snitch obligingly backs up, hovering so near her face Daria feels like she's going cross-eyed looking at the thing. Reaching out, Daria snatches up the Snitch. Relieved that the game is over and jubilant that Ravenclaw has won, Daria opens her hand to reveal the Snitch, just to verify for everyone that she actually caught it. Ravenclaw wins 170 to Hufflepuff's 60!
