In Hopes Of Making Their House Teams (Jade & Hunter)
Author: Emerald Green
Date:   10-23-14 19:04

Jade takes a drink from the bottle then passes it to Hunter. "Weird not having Olive here."

"Yeah, some. Weirder that Em's married."

"And having a brother-in-law related to my Ancient Runes professor."

"Never bothered you when Em and Phin were dating."

"Didn't say it bothers me. Said it's weird."

Hunter cuts Jade a look, earning him one right back. Her name being called to be ready for the scrimmage after the one that's currently taking place draws their attention. Hunter is a little envious that his name hasn't yet been called. Has to be soon though.

The Green twins had eaten breakfast together and walked to the pitch together. The night before Penny Puckett had asked Jade, "How can you be so chummy with Hunter when it comes to Quidditch? He's the enemy."

Jade stated simply, "He's my twin."

When Penny pressed Jade said, "We're competitive when and where needed."

Hunter and Jade weren't the first to arrive at the pitch nor were they the last. When the time came, they took part in warm-up exercises and then participated in a variety of drills led by Coach Krum and the four Hogsmeade Humbatas players assisting him today.

The snitch isn't caught so the current scrimmage goes the entire alotted time. When it ends, Jade is on the sidelines as expected, ready with her teammates this heat to get in the air. As always, Jade's interest is as beater. It's her favorite position. It's what she does well despite not looking the part. Hunter teases that at any time her arms are going to look bulked up from hefting the bat and smacking all those bludgers.

Taking to the air, bat feeling comfortable and right in her hand, Jade already has her eye on one of the bludger as a chaser from the opposing team takes first possession of the quaffle. Reaching the bludger before anyone else, she sends it towards Bart Kimple. He's in her house but right now he's on the other team, making him fair game. That he's just accepted a handoff of the quaffle makes him even more so.

Bart avoids the bludger but only because a first year on her own team flies right into its path without knowing it's there until it smashes into her. Jade winces for the girl. It's never easy getting hit by a bludger but it's worse if you don't see it coming. It's also a shame given that it's her teammate but such is Quidditch.

Noticing the other bludger soaring straight for her team's seeker, Jade hustles to intercept. Reaching it, though just barely, she redirects the black ball towards the other team's keeper. In such a short time the other team not only turned over possession of the quaffle but her team's chasers have gotten it within goal range.

The bludger connects but the keeper still rebuffs the quaffle. Her team gets the ball again as Jade races to get another bludger hit off. She and Cody Sweet reach the bludger at the same time, Jade pulling up and keeping her bat in check but Cody, in his zeal, does neither. The bat catches Jade and the now panicked Cody then slams full body into her. He's not injured, just shaken. Jade's shoulder throbs where the bat connected.

Gritting her teeth, she reminds herself she only has to last the remainder of the scrimmage. Waving off Morgana Flowers, indicating she's fine, Jade searches for the bludger she and Cody were vying for. Spotting it, she shoots away, leaving Cody still sitting there, trying to figure out what exactly happened and how.

When the match ends, Jade is relieved to now have a break before she has to play again. Slapping an ice pack on her shoulder, she moves toward the stands, looking to see where Hunter's gone. It's only after she's reached the spot where they'd been sitting and she's looked to see who's playing now that Jade sees Hunter is in the air, the next match already underway.

Hunter had wanted to see how Jade is. She might not have acted that the hit and collision were any big deal but he knows she's hurting. Olive calls it the twin thing when Jade or Hunter seems to know what the other is thinking or feeling and how they sometimes seem to communicate without ever saying a word. Hunter had wanted to see her to get a full read on the pain she's in but he'd been called for the match after hers and had to be ready to go even before her group landed.

No matter how much pain Jade might be in, Hunter knows she'll continue with the trials. She's not about to miss out on making the Ravenclaw team if she can help it. He can't blame her. The only way he'd miss the rest of tryouts is if he were knocked unconscious or if something were so badly broken he couldn't sit on his broom.

Taking his place in front of the trio of hoops he's guarding, Hunter is alert and eager. After what he thinks is too much back and forth in a short, timed match, neither team making any progress, someone finally breaks free of the pack. Unfortunately for him, it's a chaser on his own team. Unfortunate because it means he has more waiting to do before being part of the action.

The chaser reaches the other keeper, faking a goal shot when actually tossing the quaffle to another of the chasers. The girl takes the shot, but the keeper easily sends the quaffle back. The keeper's team gets the rebound and in a blink everyone starts in Hunter's direction.

After some fumbled passes and more back and forth, the quaffle is finally within range of him. The red ball comes at him in a blur, Hunter smacking it away with a fist. An opposing chaser grabs it then hurls it back at Hunter. Directly at him. He easily catches it, narrowly avoiding a bludger in the process.

Hunter hands the quaffle to one of his team's chasers, a first year girl Barbie Bones he's talked to a few times when both have been here at the pitch getting in some practice for today. Barbie doesn't get far with a bludger catches her arm, causing her to lose the quaffle to a chaser from the other team.

The chaser rushes in towards him, lobbing the quaffle to Hunter's right. Hunter dives for it, getting fingers on the red ball, shoving it away from the hoops. Once again it's in the possession of his team, the action hurtling down the pitch away from him.

When the scrimmage ends, Hunter has gotten through this match without letting the quaffle by him. He'd feel a little smug about that if not for the fact that his team didn't score against the other keeper either.

Joining Jade in the stands, Hunter makes her let him see her shoulder. It's already showing purple and black and some swellling. By tonight it will be awful. Giving her an empathetic squeeze on the hand, Hunter sits beside her, both of them anticipating getting to play another match, Jade glad the shoulder isn't one the side she usually holds her bat.

(Edgar) Trying Out
Author: Johanna Steele
Date:   10-24-14 05:59

Edgar was at the sidelines of the pitch, waiting for his name to be called. Closer to him and also waiting for their turn were two fourth years who were talking about the perks of being part of one of the school's Quidditch teams. They mentioned the glory, the fame and the female admirers who would not leave them alone. Edgar did not spoil their fun and kept his mouth shut. He had played for Gryffindor last year and there had been no horde of girls swirling around him, wanting his full attention. It wasn't just that: Quidditch was a very hard competitive sport and it demanded blood, sweat and tears. There were even times where all the effort and dedication put into a match would not translate itself in a victory. Edgar had experienced that quite often: he has never won a Quidditch match. However he loved to play the sport and he wanted to try being on the Gryffindor team once again as a beater and so here he was.

"Jones, Young, Barrett and Steele."

Edgar and the other three students who had been called approached Flora Lynch and she handed a beater bat to each one of them. She split them into two groups. Edgar was paired with Abernathy Jones from Ravenclaw while Hufflepuff Hiram Young would team up with Eilowyn Barrett, also a Gryffindor like him. Each pair joined a group and once the two teams were formed, fourteen players went up in the air, ready for the scrimmage.

Edgar had done well in the warm ups and drills, but he knew that one thing was to use his bat to send bludgers onto moving targets, another completely different thing was using it on actual human players. The level of difficulty was higher.

Flora Lynch blew her whistle and the four balls were released. The scrimmage began and Edgar flew as fast as he could in the pursuit of one of the bludgers. Hiram Young seemed to have the same idea as Edgar. There was a small race between the two, in which Hiram has been able to beat Edgar. He used his bat to hit the bludger, aiming it to one of Edgar's team chasers who was a few meters bellow them, fighting for the red quaffle. Edgar did not stay still: Hiram hasn't hit the bludger with a lot of strength and the ball's speed wasn't very high and so he was able to reach it and hit it, changing its trajectory. He aimed to a brunette girl who was holding the quaffle and played for the other team. The bludger hit one of her legs. It hasn't been enough to make the girl drop the quaffle but Edgar had been able to provoke some damage to her physical condition that probably would mess with her performance later.

The scrimmage proceeded and Edgar tried to work with Abernathy Jones so they could protect their team players. Unfortunately he did not know Abernathy's way of playing and it took him a while to adapt to it. There was a moment where they almost collided as both were chasing the same bludger. The bludger was able to pass beyond them and Eilowyn Berret used it wisely against the keeper, a poor first year who forgot he should stay in position and guard his hoops. Instead he flied away from the scoring area, avoiding the bludger, but giving free passage to the other teams' chasers to score.

Edgar and Abernathy's mistake had cost their team a goal. But he didn't think much about it and focused once again in the match. He noticed Hiram Young, on his left, aiming a bludger at Edgar's team distracted seeker, who was looking around for the snitch without being aware of his surroundings. Edgar adjusted the bat in his hand and departed at high speed, in order to defend the seeker. He even tried to warn him with a shout, but the boy was oblivious, preferring to pay attention to some of his friends at the stands who were waving and telling him where the snitch was.

The other seeker was right behind him and Edgar knew if he didn't stop Hiram's bludger, it would hit his team's seeker and they could loose the scrimmage. He accelerated, everything around him turning into a blur. He saw nothing but the black dot that he knew it was the bludger. With some skill Edgar performed a move he had practiced last year with Madoc, where he was able to fly under the bludger, passing over it, emerge turn around and, at the last second, hit it. Despite his success his efforts haven't been enough because the other seeker was able to catch the snitch.

Flora Lynch blew her whistle again, ending the scrimmage. Edgar flied to the ground and dismounted his broom. He directed himself to the sidelines after shaking hands with all his team players and opponents, eager to drink some water and get some rest before the next scrimmage.

Stay Vigilant (Mason)
Author: Pyrrhus
Date:   10-24-14 10:25

Stretching out a kink in one leg, Mason asks Boris, "Did I miss anything?" Mason had gone to the loo.

"Just those two first years flying into each other trying to get the quaffle."

"They're on the same team."

"That's what makes it great entertainment. Still sore?"

"Yeah. Wasn't a hard hit but it popped me just right," Mason says of a bludger he took to his leg during the first match he played.

Boris gives a sympathetic smile. "At least it wasn't me who did it."

Boris, trying out for beater, had been in that same match but on the other team.

The two friends don't have much longer to talk before Mason is due on the sidelines again for another scrimmage. Since he's played chaser for awhile now he doesn't see any reason to also try out for any of the other positions.

It's not long before Mason's in the air again. Looking at his teammates, he gives a sigh. One of the other chasers is a first year and the other is a second year Mason has never seen on the pitch before today. That doesn't mean the second year isn't a great Quidditch player. He just thinks that he'd have seen the bloke playing in at least one of the just for fun, pick up type games that so many play.

One beater is a sixth year classmate Mason knows well but who tends to be somewhat uncoordinated. At least Jade Green is the other beater. And their keeper is the other Green, Hunter. Mason has no idea who the seeker is. He can't remember ever even having seen the girl before.

Sighing again, he gets in position for the match to begin. He doesn't really matter if his team this scrimmage does well or even wins as long as he puts on a good showing. Of course, his efforts to do so might be greatly stymied by certain teammates. He'll simply have to do his best and help the others as he can.

The balls are released. Mason dives for the quaffle, wresting it from the grip of one of the other team's chasers, yet another unfamiliar face. He either needs to pay better attention to students from other years and houses or there are number of firsties out today.

Mason dodges a bludger, racing to where friend and roommate Gaston Gallagher awaits in front of three hoops, the keeper for the other team. Two chasers try to pen him in, working to both slow him down and to steal the quaffle. Much as he doesn't want to, Mason passes off to the chaser teammate who's a first year.

She goes a good job of catching then zooms away, zig zagging to avoid a bludger from one direction and the third opposing chaser from the other. She doesn't fully miss the bludger but seems unfazed by it as she tosses the quaffle to the second year. In turn, the second year drives in towards Gaston, going for the goal shot.

Gaston's able to block the ball, turning it over to his team's chasers. The one in possession doesn't get very far when a bludger brushing by his ear has him ready to hand off the ball. His form is a little sloppy, the quaffle wobbling on a path to another of the other team's chasers when Mason swoops in to intercept.

Banking sharply he dashes back towards Gaston, sending the quaffle off to the hoop on his left. Gaston makes a good effort to get to the quaffle for another block but it sails past his fingers and through the hoops.

Mason smiles but knows he can't relax just yet. There's plenty of time left in the match, unless his team's seeker manages to catch the snitch, so he needs to stay vigilant, showing Coach Krum he deserves his spot back on the Slytherin team.

(Madoc & Malden) Beater & Chaser
Author: Minerva McGonagall
Date:   10-24-14 13:36

Madoc grimaced as he wound cloth tape around his index and middle fingers on his right hand. They had gotten caught between his bat and a bludger during the last scrimmage match. Other than the unfortunate accident, which happened after somebody else bumped into him at precisely the wrong time, Madoc felt like he'd played on point thus far.

He looked around the Quidditch Pitch and saw a lot of hopefuls. Some were actually decent players. Others obviously couldn't tell one end of a broomstick from the other. Then there were a few, besides the veteran players, who were really very good. Madoc knew he wasn't a shoo-in, despite his experience playing beater for Gryffindor, but he still felt his chances were quite good of reclaiming his old position on the team.

Not far from where Madoc stood and taped his fingers, Malden leaned on his broomstick and watched the proceedings in the air. He was going for chaser again and did not expect to get passed over for somebody new. Malden had managed to escape his earlier scrimmage unharmed and had even scored a goal. He would have scored another, had the timer not gone off signaling the end of the match.

As he looked around at the others trying out, which consisted of a lot of eager first years, Malden felt very secure in his abilities. There were times he even laughed out loud while watching the first years attempt to maneuver their broomsticks around the pitch. Malden honestly felt it would be a miracle if any of them made their respective house teams.

After a while of watching the goings-on, both McGonagall brothers were called to participate in the same scrimmage as well as the same team. Madoc curled and flexed his taped fingers a few times to get used to the difference and made sure he could hang on to his bat properly, while Malden mounted his broomstick and flew into position for the quaffle release.

Humbatas teammate Morgana Flowers released the balls into the air, and the scrimmage began with a first year attempting to get his hands on the quaffle, only to lose it immediately when another beater slammed a bludger into the first year's shoulder. Madoc caught the same bludger before it could go far and redirected it at Ramona Mickle, who played for the other team and had snatched up the quaffle from the now-injured first year. The bludger caught Ramona in the funny bone, causing an amusing expression on her face, and earning the desired result of the quaffle going into free fall.

Malden quickly moved into place to collect the quaffle, darting in and out of the fray very nimbly. He zoomed ahead, eyes focused on his roommate Bruno, who was playing keeper for the opposite team. Bruno mirrored his look of concentration and determination, but then his eyes shifted as he noticed something behind Malden. Malden saw the shift in attention and dodged just in time to avoid a bludger. It whizzed past his ear.

Madoc pushed ahead to intercept the bludger and gave it a hard whack towards Bruno. Bruno's gaze wavered between the incoming bludger and quaffle and fleetingly wondered why his team's beaters weren't around to save him. He took the bludger to the shoulder the same time Malden fired the quaffle toward the right-most hoop. Bruno winced as he tried to raise his injured arm for the block, but moved too slowly to have any impact on the quaffle. It went through the hoop without touching any rim.

Malden pumped his fist in the air and met eyes with his older brother. They weren't overly close or even that friendly, but for the present time they were teammates. Malden nodded his head in Madoc's direction and then flew off after the opposing chaser who had the quaffle tucked under her arm. Madoc hurried off after a bludger, ready to use it however necessary.

Two Scrimmages
Author: Mildred
Date:   10-24-14 14:32

"Hey, over here I'm free!" Mildred called.

However Slytherin Maurice Kilman ignored her and kept trying to find his way towards the hoops even if he was being blocked by two chasers. One of them stole the quaffle from Maurice. Mildred shifted her broom around, feeling frustrated that her team's attack had turned into a defense. She had been free the whole time and if Maurice had passed her the quaffle Mildred was sure she would be able to at least reach the hoops and try to score. But he had opted to ignore her, like he has done during the entire scrimmage. He was not concerned in playing as a team, always wanting the quaffle to himself.

Just like last year Mildred was trying out for the chaser position. A year ago she did so because her grandmother had suggested she should find a hobby, to keep herself distracted and not spend her time trying to look into the past and discover what really happened to her parents and the Sims. Now, things had changed and Mildred was at the trials because she really wanted to play for Gryffindor again. During the summer she had made the resolution of stop digging into the past and live her life the most. And that's what she was doing right now.

She flew around the pitch, trying to find a way to take the quaffle from the chaser who was holding it. But Daisy Khan was holding it tight, protecting it like a mother would do to an infant. Mildred gave up and she offered some room for the opponent chaser to speed up. Unlike Maurice, Daisy was a team player, and she passed the quaffle to another fellow chaser who happened to be free. Mildred, who had been attentive to Daisy's movements, blocked the pass and grabbed the red ball. She started to fly as fast as she could to the hoops, knowing she was being followed by the other chasers.

A familiar sound came from her left and she ducked on the right moment the bludger passed by, avoiding it from hitting her head. She continued her way towards the hoops. The bludger hasn't been able to stop Mildred but one of the other team's chasers did. He had positioned himself next to her, getting ready to snatch the quaffle from her. This was a duel she could not win and her eyes looked around in search for her team's chasers. She spotted Maurice and her first instinct was to no pass him the quaffle even if he had managed to leave behind the chaser that was covering him. Maurice didn't deserve the quaffle. But Mildred was not like him and she threw the red ball to him. He caught it and once again he tried to do all the work on his own.

Naturally without accepting the aid and support of Mildred and the other chaser, Maurice ended up losing the quaffle again.
During the entire scrimmage Mildred has only been able to score once. She had done better in the drills, where she had to show how good she was at shooting towards the hoops with nothing ahead of her but the keeper.

She felt relieved when the scrimmage ended. It was very frustrating to play with someone like Maurice and she was glad that if he made the team he would be playing for Slytherin and not Gryffindor, so there would be no chance for them to play together anytime soon.

"You were great up there!" Achilles complimented her once she hit the ground. He too was going to try out for the team and was waiting for his name to be called.

"I could have done better if it hasn't been for that Maurice Kilman, trying to sabotage me. That snake! It's already hard when you have to deal with the bludgers and the other team's pressure."

"Maybe you should sign up as a beater too. You'll have the chance to hit him with a bludger. He would cry like a baby," Achilles smiled with malice, imagining Maurice getting injured by a bludger.

Mildred did not like this, especially because Achilles had some resemblances with his mother when he smiled like that. She shook those thoughts out of her head and instead she sat down next to Achilles, accepting the bottle of water he offered her. She drank with satisfaction. Meanwhile, he passed his hand over her ponytail, playing with her hair. After a moment of two Mildred shook her head, trying to make him stop.

Lately Achilles had been acting weird always trying to have some sort of body contact with her. The other day, during Potions, she didn't have enough strength to crush a sample of lionfish spine in her mortar. Achilles offered to help her and he stood behind her, his head right over her neck and he used his hands above hers to turn the lionfish spine into powder. That hasn't been what Mildred had in mind when she asked for help. Then, on the very first day at Hogwarts, while on the Gryffindor common room, Achilles had laid down on one of the scarlet sofas, his head on her lap, without asking her permission. Mildred didn't like this sort of contact coming from a boy. She was not used to it, and she liked to have her own space. However she found it hard to express that opinion to Achilles and she let him do so, without a protest, but always trying to stop it at every chance she could without offend him.

Her name was called once again and she left the bench, ready once again for action. She adjusted her ponytail and mounted her broom, after meeting her new team mates and her opponents. This time she was determinate to score more goals.

The scrimmage started and only by inches she was not the first one to grab the quaffle. Mildred went in persuit of the chaser who had grabbed it, a Ravenclaw named Pablo Carioca. She practically glued herself against him, desperately wanting the quaffle. Mildred was fueling her insecurity towards Achilles into the scrimmage, turning it into ferocity. Pablo was twice her side, but she didn't care.

A bludger flied right in front of the two chasers and Mildred had no option but to move aside and leave Pablo to avoid being hit right in the face. When she was able to go back covering him again he had already passed the quaffle to another chaser.

After a moment of back and forth in the center of the pitch, without almost any advances from any of the sides, (and in which Mildred was hit in her shoulder by a bludger), a chaser from Mildred's team was able to break the cycle and make some progress. He was the sixth year Slytherin Mason Jeffers who she had played against with in the past. Mildred flew next to him and the two of them worked together, passing the quaffle between each other, managing to get closer and closer to the hoops.

Mildred found herself in the possession of the red ball once again and in a good position to score. Without hesitating she shot. The keeper moved towards the quaffle's but she was too slow and the ball entered the hoop with ease. Mildred smiled, thinking that maybe with this group of chasers she would be able to do better job in the pitch and actually been chosen to play for Gryffindor again this year.

(Asher) Determination
Author: Jolyon
Date:   10-24-14 15:44

Asher stood on the sidelines and impatiently waited his turn to play. The only action he had gotten so far was during the warm-up and flying drills. His name had yet to be called for a scrimmage match, whereas some others had already gone twice! Just when he thought he'd been completely overlooked, he heard his name. Clutching his broomstick tightly, he walked out onto the field and then took to the air.

Like last year, Asher wanted to play beater. It was his favorite position and the only one where he was allowed to cause bodily harm against others. Too bad that rule only applied to other players, though. He really wished he could smash his biological father in the face with a bludger!

For the first time since they were very small, Asher and Arielle actually had something in common. Neither cared for the fact that their father was dating their aunt Lorrie. It was very weird in Asher's opinion. He knew Jolyon and Lorrie didn't share the same blood, but he still felt like they were sort of related. The whole thing just seemed wrong.

Unlike Arielle, Asher didn't want his parents getting back together. In fact, he wished Jolyon would walk right out of his life. Better yet, off the entire planet!

With thoughts of his unwanted father in mind, Asher hit a bludger hard at the chaser who at the moment had the quaffle nestled in the crook of her arm. It clipped the fellow fourth year in the arm, but she didn't lose her grip on the red ball. Instead, she looked for an opening and passed the quaffle longhand to another chaser a little father down the Pitch.

Asher propelled himself forward to get to the bludger again, but Humbert Umberfield beat him to it. Humbert hit the ball but swung his bat so wildly that he nearly fell off of his broomstick. Asher would have laughed if he hadn't been so focused on the match. He intercepted Humbert's ball and used it on the boy Ollie all the girls found so adorably cute. The black ball struck Ollie squarely between his shoulders and caused him to buckle forwards and lose his hold on the quaffle.

The ball barely left his fingers before it was snatched up by a chaser on Asher's team. He did his very best to keep the ball in her hands and assisted her all the way to the goals. Her goal attempt went wide, and then the ball was back into the opposing team's hands. Asher scowled, but he didn't let his disappointment impair his playing ability. The scrimmage match wasn't over yet, and his team could still win! He knew the outcome of the match wasn't the important part, though. It was how he played and whether his performance would earn him his old position back on the Slytherin team.

As long as he didn't botch things up too severely, Asher felt certain he had nothing to worry about.

Unopened Letter
Author: Araxie Loren
Date:   10-24-14 18:37

The last few weeks of summer had passed quickly enough, and I'd met with dad's attorney not once but three times since the day I'd visited him in Azkaban over a month ago. He'd also written me a couple of times in the last few weeks since I'd been at school, wanting some clarification on this drawing or one of the answers I'd given him pertaining to the nightmares and the information I'd given him at our meetings.

It was easy to fall into the routine of school, it was familiar, constant and predictable. Classes, homework, friends were almost enough to keep me distracted from the fact that if things went the way people were hoping my father would be out of prison. Years of not having him in my life, he would suddenly be there. I knew he wouldn't actively try and take me from my Aunt and Uncle, but I knew he would try and make it so that the place he ended up getting would be something that I was ultimately comfortable in and would want to spend most of my time there.

"Figured you would at least be outside watching the trials, maybe getting a couple of sketches done in the sunlight," Nichole said as she dropped down beside me.

"Nah, wanted to get some homework done, and debating on if I want to open the letter from Dad's attorney that came this morning over breakfast."

Nichole frowned, reaching for the wax sealed parchment envelope.

"Want me to do it?"

I stopped her hand and shook my head, tucking the envelope into my bag again before sighing and shoving a hand through my hair.

"They said that it could be a couple of months before he gets a new trial, or it could be a couple of weeks. It has only been not even three weeks since I last met with both of them in Azkaban. Do you think he could have gotten a new trial already?"

Nichole shrugged, "It could be anything at this point. Open it and it will take some of the stress off your shoulders, and I think I'm going to head back out to the Quidditch Trials, just wanted to check on you."

With that Nichole headed back out to the quidditch pitch, leaving me on the main staircase with my history of magic textbook spread out on my lap where I was reading.

Carters & Quidditch: Seeker and Beater
Author: Cai Pembroke Carter
Date:   10-24-14 18:59

Cai and Aderyn had gotten up early and made it to the pitch early enough to not be the first, but they were far from being the last students there. Aderyn would be trying out for beater again, she had really enjoyed the position last year and wasn't really interested in trying out for anything else at the moment. Cai would be trying out for Seeker again this year, she'd already talked to Isma, and the older girl would not be trying out again this year because she had quite a bit on her plate.

Both Carter girls had gone through their warm-ups and the drills with Coach Krum and the Humbatas players that were assisting him for the trials today. The day was spectacular, and everyone was thankful for the beautiful weather to accompany the Quidditch trials.

Already there had been some injuries, Aderyn had gone to check on Jade, to see if she was alright after taking Cody's bat to her shoulder. Then she'd taken to the air for her own scrimmage match.

Cai and Aderyn had both been called for this scrimmage, Cai was seeker and Aderyn beater for the opposite team. Malden was one of the chasers in this match, and currently was getting in position to pass to Mildred Campbell, who was in scoring range.

Quick shift on her broom, and even quicker calculations had Aderyn sending a bludger in the direct path of the quaffle, dislodging it from it's trajectory before it could get too far from Malden's fingertips or get close enough for Mildred to actually get a handle on the ball. With a grin, she shot around the pair of chasers, and smiled when Mason Jeffers managed to lay claim to the quaffle and was off toward the opposite end of the pitch.

Cai, hovered over the action, staying over it as much as she could to avoid getting in the path of the other players, or worse getting in the path of a bludger, which could prove dangerous. She wasn't entirely sure of the name of the other seeker on the opposing team, she just was determined to catch the snitch before time ran out on the scrimmage.

So far each team had managed to score ten points this scrimmage, which was good and would go for a bit longer, if no one caught the snitch in an attempt to break the tie.

It would be that thought that would send the shimmering, glittering golden snitch in to Cai's line of sight. Carefully, she reached forward, and as the ball took off Cai was quickly on it's trail. Just as the whistle blew to call the scrimmage, Cai's hand closed around the brilliant, rapidly flying ball!

Once their match ended, Cai and Aderyn returned to the stands and dropped down into a seat each with a glass of something cold to drink while they both watched the next round of scrimmage matches.
