First Day of Finals
Author: Finley
Date:   07-28-17 17:32

The Great Hall was already quite busy when Finley entered the room. She wandered over to the Gryffindor table and plopped down next to Phoebus, who looked as if he'd just gotten out of bed. His hair was mussed, and there were lines on his face from where he'd pressed it into the bed linens. He was dressed in a T-shirt and jeans, though.

"Nice of you to join us," he drawled, and then he took a big bite out of a meatball sandwich.

"That's not funny, you know," Finley replied. She was dressed in her school robes and had been up for hours on account of having two final exams in the morning.

Her first exam had been Fitness & Athletics, which had been a breeze. Care of Magical Creatures had followed directly after and had been a bit more challenging, but Finley thought she'd done okay overall. She'd left the stables for the Great Hall and was absolutely starving.

Phoebus, having missed breakfast, was also ravenous. Meat sauce dribbled down his chin when he asked, "How did they go?"

"Well enough, I suppose," Finley replied. "I'm glad I've got two behind me, but there's still seven to go, and I've got something everyday this week!"

Phoebus offered her a sympathetic smile. Today was his only free day. His first exam was first thing tomorrow morning. He pointed a sauce-stained finger over at the Slytherin table and asked, "What's with her?"

Finley followed his gaze and saw Eirene studying fast and furiously while eating her own lunch, which consisted of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and a side of potato crisps. Eirene had also had two exams that morning: Fitness & Athletics along with Finley and also Ancient Runes. She thought she had done well, but she didn't think she'd done perfectly, and that bothered Eirene tremendously. She didn't like being anything other than the best and was determined to excel at her remaining finals.

Finley shifted her gaze to Phoebus and remarked, "That's just her being a perfectionist. Speaking of, if you want to do at least decently on tomorrow's exams, you might want to consider joining me in the library after lunch."

"I suppose I can do that," Phoebus replied, and then he took another big bite out of his meatball sandwich.

Nap Time
Author: Gerry
Date:   07-30-17 17:20

Gerry kicked off his shoes, pulled off his robes, and loosened his tie. He would have stripped off his entire uniform and pulled on something more casual, even his pajamas, but he was too tired to do much more. Instead, he tipped backwards onto his four-poster bed and closed his eyes for a quick nap.

Gerry was extra tired today because his second final exam had been Astronomy at midnight last night. It had gone okay, but it had also gone late into the night and had meant that he'd gotten very little sleep overnight. Gerry had been unable to sleep in this morning because his next exam had been at nine a.m. sharp. That had been Arithmancy & Divination, which was promptly followed by Care of Magical Creatures.

He was officially done for the day as far as exams went, which was why Gerry thought now was as good a time as any to get in some sleep. After leaving the stables, he'd gone to the Commons to grab a boxed sandwich, which he'd placed on his bedside table and would probably devour when he woke up in a little bit. Unlike Gerry, Will had gone to the Great Hall to eat a proper lunch.

Gerry still had six exams to go… two for each remaining day of the week. Will, on the other hand, had seven… the same six, plus Muggle Studies directly after lunch today.

As tired as Gerry felt, he didn't drift away to sleep very quickly. His mind jumped around from final exams, to summer plans, and to the fact that his brother Gareth would be starting at Hogwarts in the fall. Would Gareth also wind up in Gryffindor House? Time would only tell.

The Last Two Cousins Left
Author: Aaron Miller
Date:   07-30-17 19:15

Yawning, Lauren slides into the seat next to Amorica. "How are your exams going?"

"All right enough I suppose. My schedule is so different I'll be in the middle of writing an exam and thinking I should be somewhere else."

Amorica pulls out her exam schedule to show Lauren, tapping the parchment. "Yesterday, for instance, I had Charms. Normally Mondays do start for me with Charms but at 10, not at 9. Transfiguration is a Tuesday-Thursday class for me and Care of Magical Creatures a Tuesday-Wednesday one. Starting off Monday earlier than usual and then having exams for classes that I met on days other than Monday has just seemed odd. I kept wanting to go to Arithmancy & Divination and to Defense Against the Dark Arts."

Lauren grins. "That's how it always is with exams. Or so it seems. What's today like?"

"Defense Against the Dark Arts and Potions. Thankfully, those are behind me. I'm free the rest of the day if you consider studying being free. Has your hand recovered from writing OWLs?"

"Still stiff but not as bad. Towards the end I kept expecting to see huge purple blotches it felt so bruised. I did have some purpling but from smeared ink," she laughs.

"Getting lots of rest since your last exam?"

Lauren nods, "Loads. Maybe too much. This morning I came to breakfast then when back to bed. Only got up a few minutes before coming to pester you."

"You came to the Great Hall just to pester me? I'm flattered," Amorica grins.

"Lunch may have had something to do with coming but, yes. When I got up I said to myself, 'Lauren, you must go pester Amorica,' so here I am."

Giggling, Lauren asks Amorica of a nearby serving bowl. "Is that Chicken Tikka Marsala?"

"If you mean Masala, yes, I believe it is."

"What did I say? Marsala? I always do that. Anyway, yum. Pass the bowl, please. Is there steamed rice?" Lauren looks at the dishes nearest Amorica and she on the Slytherin table. "There it is."

She helps herself to some rice then takes the bowl of chicken Amorica placed within reach. "Hope you don't mind me eating with you instead of at the Gryffindor table."

"The better to pester me."

"Of course." As she pours herself some lemonade Lauren comments, "Hard to believe that come September the only Wenlock cousins will be you and me."

"Not counting Aaron and his kids."

"Right. I meant as students. I'm just getting used to Liannah not being around. Now I have to get used to not seeing Marlow regularly."

"I still miss Alexa and we were only here together for one year."

"How is she doing?"

"Good. Busy. I think we're closer now than we were growing up even with me here at Hogwarts so much of the year."

"That's good. Liannah and Marlow and I fight a lot but we're also close."

Amorica giggles again. "I would never have known you three fight if you'd not just said."

"Yeah, yeah," Lauren makes a face. "Oh, just realized I never asked when you're finished."

Amorica's smile turns to a small frown as she sighs, "Not until midnight Friday."

"Whoa."

"I know. I guess to ensure the fives years taking Astronomy exams have plenty of time on the tower as needed, especially as the lower years have two classes each, we sixth years were given a Friday night slot."

"If that's how the exam schedule is going to be next year maybe I should skip taking Astronomy."

Amorica's frown is back to a smile as she and Lauren discuss the pros and cons of courses and whether to take them as NEWT levels. When they've finished lunch the cousins move to the Commons for awhile before Amorica starts reviewing for her Wednesday exams in Herbology and History of Magic.

(Noah) Six Down, One to Go
Author: Lysander Stratford
Date:   08-01-17 18:14

Noah entered the Ravenclaw common room and dumped his school bag on the floor next to his bed. He had just completed his sixth final exam. His first two had taken place on Monday. Those had been Charms and Transfiguration, which had gone fairly well. Noah liked those two classes in particular because they involved a lot of spellwork, which really was fun.

Tuesday's two exams had been Potions and Defense Against the Dark Arts. Potions was probably Noah's weakest course, not because he didn't understand the concepts––he excelled at the written work most of the time––but because he had trouble multitasking and timing everything just right. DADA had gone well, he thought.

Today's two had been History of Magic, which had involved a great deal of writing, and Herbology. Noah didn't have a green thumb, but he liked learning about magical plants. The fact that they weren't ordinary made them interesting. He thought he'd done okay on the exam, if only because there hadn't been time to accidentally kill any plants.

Now there was only one exam left. Noah was super glad about that, and he was all the more pleased because it was tomorrow, which meant that Friday would be a completely free day for him. The downside to the exam was that it was for Astronomy, which meant he had to wait all day for it to arrive. He hoped he wouldn't grow bored and fall asleep before it was time to leave for the Astronomy Tower.

Noah looked forward to summer. His parents had said he could go to Quidditch Con and Emrys Fest. They'd come along, of course, since he was only 12 and not yet old enough to spend full days out and about on his own. In August, they were all going on holiday to Paris. They were staying in a wizarding hotel, but their itinerary included visiting some Muggle tourist sites, like Notre Dame Cathedral and the Louvre Museum.

After changing out of his robes, Noah headed out of his dorm room and went to the Great Hall for lunch. He'd probably take the rest of the day off, since he was more or less prepared for Astronomy already and certainly didn't need to spend all afternoon and all day tomorrow preparing for the exam. Tomorrow morning he might review his Astronomy notes, but then he'd take it easy until it was time for the test.

Talk of Jobs
Author: Ginny Weasley
Date:   08-01-17 20:27

Spotting Ginny, Harry stands and waves. She says something to the hostess who nods then turns to greet the couple who've entered the restaurant just behind Ginny. Ginny crosses the room to a table with a view of an outside seating area. "Would you rather go out?" he asks.

"No, this is fine," she says putting her purse into one of the empty chairs.

Harry's come around to hold one of the other chairs for her. Though he doesn't have to do that and some think it old fashioned Ginny can't help but like that her husband still exhibits gentlemanly courtesy, at least when they're out in public. Sometimes at home not so much.

Back in his seat he hands a menu across to her. "I've already decided."

"You've been here before, right?"

"Yeah, two, maybe three times. Of what I've tried so far I like the chicken shawarma. I'm going to try the scampi this time."

Ginny looks up from the menu, tapping a photo of one dish. "The gyro pizza is appealing." She returns her attention to the menu for about half a minute before setting it aside. "Going with the pizza."

Waiting for their order to be taken Ginny asks, "What did Kingsley say?"

"Same thing as always."

She rolls her eyes. "Haunting you from her grave."

"Seems like."

They put the conversation on pause to give their orders. Alone once again Ginny, aware of their Muggle surroundings, drops her voice to sarcastically say, "What? Now that she's gone they think you're going to take over the Death Eaters?"

Harry makes a face. "Something like that. Taking them over must be why as a kid I fought to do away with Voldemort."

"They've sidelined you far too long. Think of the good you could have done on too many cases to count."

He grins at her. "As the saying goes, you're preaching to the choir. When you left this morning you said you had a meeting. I thought the team had one just on Saturday."

"Wasn't a team meeting. To my shock the Daily Prophet has asked me to become a Quidditch correspondent."

Harry's expression mirrors the surprise Ginny feels. "You hadn't applied for that sort of position. Or did you and I'm a bad husband for not remembering you saying something about it."

"No, you hadn't forgotten as I never applied or even spoke to anyone as that being a possibility. They contacted me. For some reason the two I spoke with were under the impression I'm about to announce my retirement not just from the Harpies but from professional Quidditch."

"How strange."

"Right! I don't know who would do that. I told them I currently have no such plans but they wanted me to hear them out anyway."

"Does it sound appealing?"

"Yes and no. I'm not quite ready to give up playing just yet but maybe it's a job to keep in mind when I am."

They talk a little more about the surprising offer of employment and try to think who'd put out a rumor that Ginny is quitting the Harpies. Once their food arrives they turn the conversation to what they still have left to do to go on a family holiday in a few weeks. When they leave, Ginny accompanies Harry back to the Ministry of Magic where Harry returns to the complaint desk in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement and Ginny pops in at her father's office to see if he's free to take tea with her in the canteen.

Final Exams and Summer Plans
Author: Illyria
Date:   08-02-17 18:15

Although it was a nice night, the first year Gryffindor and Hufflepuff final exam took place in the Astronomy classroom. Illyria had planned to have all her exams in the classroom rather than on the Observation Desk, on the chance that bad weather or heavy clouds obscured the night sky. Instead of the real sky, the students were working off of the enchanted version on the ceiling of the classroom.

Illyria observed them work from her desk. She'd already given four exams. After the current one, only three remained. The next one would take place at midnight and would involve the fourth year Gryffindor and Hufflepuff students.

She felt a yawn approaching and smothered it with the back of her hand. Illyria had always been a bit of a night owl, but with a baby, she felt like she wasn't getting very much sleep. Staying up late had become difficult.

At least she had Nathan to help her with Ian. Hopefully, they were both asleep at that very moment, though Illyria kind of doubted it. Her boy didn't like to sleep one bit, and he was probably keeping his daddy up too.

Illyria found it rather difficult to believe that she had just completed her tenth year as Astronomy professor at Hogwarts. It would have been eleven, if not for her time at the 14-15-14 community for nons. Thinking about that dreadful year brought to mind the new book that had just come out about all the communities. Illyria hadn't read it yet and wasn't sure she wanted to, but she had a feeling it would come up in the next survivor's meeting.

She was mildly curious about what others thought of the book, so she looked forward to the next meeting. Besides the upcoming meeting, Illyria had some other summer plans. She was planning on visiting her family in Mumbai for much of July. August would be spent relaxing at home and preparing for the upcoming school year.

When the clock finally struck 12, it was time for the first years to go to their beds and for the fourth years to write their final Astronomy exam. The transition from one class to the next went surprisingly smoothly. After a few instructions, Illyria returned to her desk and watched the fourth years work.

Achievements
Author: Fritz Schnackenpfefferhausen
Date:   08-03-17 18:31

Fritz eyes the Alchemy sixth years, who are busily finishing up their final exams. It's just about lunchtime, and Fritz can feel himself grow hungrier and hungrier by the minute. He just knows his stomach is going to start growing loudly for everyone in the classroom to hear. If only he had a snack in his desk drawer! Then again, opening a package and chewing could be distracting for the test-takers. He just has to suck it up and wait for lunch just like everybody else.

After this exam, he's got to get his grades turned in to Professor McGonagall, and then he's done for the school year. He can't believe this makes two full years as Alchemy professor at Hogwarts. Where has the time gone?

The other astonishing thing is that as of last week, he's officially earned his Primary Order of Potions degree from St. Emrys University. It will be strange not to return to the university as a student next fall, but Fritz is hoping he'll have a reason to be on campus anyway. He's applied for a job, and one that will hopefully allow him to continue teaching at Hogwarts as well.

Fritz would have started applying sooner, but he's not hurting for money thanks to Berthold Beatenberg's gift. At Coco's request, Fritz did go to the authorities to report the threatening notes he'd received. He hasn't gotten another letter and as far as he knows, the authorities have no idea from where the first two may have originated. Hopefully he won't get any more and he can just forget about them.

One thing he did remember to do was select two recipients for the Hogwarts Graduate Fund. Like last year, the money will be anonymously rewarded the Monday after the End of Term Feast, which is this Saturday. The money will be transferred from the Gringotts bank vault Fritz set up in Hogsmeade for the fund to their own vaults, unless they don't have one. Then, other arrangements will be made. This year's recipients are Justin Hodges and Heather Rabnott.

Finally, the clock strikes 12:15, signaling the end of the exam and the start of the awaited lunch hour. Fritz collects the sixth year Alchemy exams, bids them farewell and a happy summer, and departs after them for the Great Hall.

Art Camp?
Author: Blossom
Date:   08-03-17 19:28

Seth plops down beside a sleepy looking Gideon. "It's going to be a looooong day."

Gideon looks confused for a moment but then comprehension dawns. "You've Astronomy tonight." He yawns then adds, "And we've Fitness & Athletics first thing tomorrow."

On Gideon's other side Larkin smirks, "I've nothing today. Nothing tomorrow."

"Rub it in," Seth grumbles.

"All right. I get to sleep in as late as I wish in the morning."

Seth makes a face at her while Gideon pokes her in the ribs. Gideon points out, "If the exam schedule stays the same then you'll have a Friday morning exam next year."

Larkin had decided to take Fitness & Athletics during second year. "True, but for now I am Friday finals free."

Seth pushes off the couch. "I'm going to lunch. Coming with?"

"Yeah, I'm starving."

Larkin, standing up as Gideon does, rolls her eyes at him. "As many biscuits as you've eaten since coming in here I would think you'd be sick to your stomach by now."

"Those were just starters. Say, did you let Mum know yet if you want to do a summer camp?" Gideon asks the other two.

"Miranda's doing the winged horse one so I'm doing that one too."

Though late to be signing up for such camps when the matter came up recently because of Gideon learning of a Quidditch camp and wanting to attend. Luckily for him, the camp still had a few openings. Thinking Seth and Larkin might also be interested in attending a week to two week long camp their mother had done some checking on what camps there were that they might enjoy and which still had openings.

Seth's reply to Gideon's question surprises him. He thought for sure his brother would want one of the remaining Qiudditch camp slots. Instead, Seth says, "I'm doing the art camp one."

"Art camp?"

"Art camp," Seth affirms for his brother.

Larkin grins. "I'd thought about that one until Miranda said she's doing the winged horse one. We thought it would be fun to do together."

Exiting the commons for the Great Hall and lunch, Gideon walks slightly behind Larkin and Seth, slowly shaking his head back and forth and muttering, "Art camp. Art. Not Quidditch. This person is not my triplet. But who?"

Larkin and Seth exchange a look and continue walking, ignoring Gideon's theorizing on who this person is that has replaced the real Seth.

Lakeside
Author: Ellis
Date:   08-04-17 15:56

Daphne and Emily sat along the shores of the lake and thought about how their very first year at Hogwarts was just about finished. Daphne had completed all of her final exams, while Emily had one left––Fitness & Athletics first thing Friday morning. Emily wasn't terribly stressed over her last test, though she might review some of her notes before then, just to make sure she didn't forget some rule about one sport or another.

The new school year would be the first without an Ellis sibling starting at Hogwarts. For Daphne and Emily, it wouldn't feel all that weird, but for the older siblings, it most certainly would seem different. The next Ellis sibling in line was Franklin, but he wasn't turning 11 until October, which meant he'd have to wait almost an entire year to start at Hogwarts. Bummer, that.

In the Hufflepuff common room, Conrad changed out of his robes into something more comfortable. He'd had two exams in the morning: Herbology and History of Magic. After the exams, he'd taken lunch in the Great Hall. His plan for the afternoon had been to relax with friends and perhaps review his own Fitness & Athletics study guide, but he'd ended up napping for hours on end. He hadn't realized how tired he'd felt until he'd gone up to his dorm room.

Now he thought it was time for a bit of a snack and then some fresh air. Conrad went to the Commons first, where he got a chocolate eclair and some pumpkin fizz. He devoured his snack and then went outside, where he met up with his sisters. While they chatted, he stretched out in the grass and promptly fell asleep again.

Blakeney and Alys, meanwhile, were sharing a table in the library. Blakeney still had two exams to go, while Alys had one. Blakeney had had two exams in the morning: Potions and Defense Against the Dark Arts. Her two tomorrow were Herbology and History of Magic.

Alys had also had two in the morning: Charms and Transfiguration. Her Astronomy exam was at midnight today, and then she had Ancient Runes tomorrow morning. Fortunately, the exam wasn't at 9 am, but it was still a bit early for a late evening the previous night.

Alys didn't have any great plans for the summer, but Blakeney did. She'd made a ton of male friends during the various SAT events, and she planned on corresponding with all of them. With any luck, she might even meet up with some.

After a while, the girls got antsy and decided that they, too, would venture outside. Alys felt like her brain was full, and Blakeney was starting to think about boys instead of the task at hand. They wandered outside and found their younger siblings by the lake.

Kaycee - Done with Finals
Author: Lee Sickleby
Date:   08-05-17 13:24

Kaycee left the Fitness & Athletics final feeling fairly good about herself. She was officially finished with everything, and assuming she passed all her classes, she'd be leaving her second year for her third when classes resumed in September. The good and bad thing about entering her third year meant Kaycee could take two elective courses. It was good, because she looked forward to learning something completely different; she had signed up for Ancient Runes and Arithmancy & Divination. The bad thing would be having two more classes to keep up with, though.

Since it wasn't yet lunchtime, Kaycee decided to hang out on the Hogwarts grounds. With the weather as nice as it was, a lot of students were taking advantage of it. Groups were stretched out on the shores of the Black Lake, while others made picnics under the trees or played games under the sun.

A few individuals were out and about, too. Kaycee almost tripped over fellow classmate Walter Wickham, who was crawling on his knees and elbows through some of the higher grass.

"What are you doing?" Kaycee asked him, when he sat up on his legs to see who had disturbed his concentration.

"I was chasing a garden gnome," Walter replied. He pointed ahead, where Kaycee could see movement in the tall grass. The presumed gnome, for Kaycee couldn't actually see it, slipped through some hedges and then disappeared into one of the gardens near Hagrid's Hut.

"What were you going to do with it when you caught it?" Kaycee asked.

"Dunno, really," Walter replied. "Probably toss it. That's what you do with them, right?"

Kaycee nodded. "Yeah. Sorry I distracted you," she said. "Going to go after it?"

"Nah," Walter said. He got to his feet and brushed the dirt and grass of the knees of his slacks. "What are you doing?"

"Nothing," Kaycee answered. "Just wandering. It's too early for lunch, and the weather is so nice…"

"Want to hang out?" Walter abruptly asked.

Kaycee took a long moment and then nodded. "Yeah. Where?"

"How about there?" He pointed to some cut down trees just beyond Hagrid's Hut. There were several stumps that made for good seating.

Kaycee liked the idea and went over to the stumps with Walter. They sat and talked about how finals had gone, what their summer plans were, and what being third years at Hogwarts would really be like.

Vet Emergency
Author: Coco Nutt
Date:   08-05-17 19:44

As Indigo measures out a potion to give a dog Coco and he have worked hours on to save after Murphy, an unusual Border Collie-Pug mix, got off his leash and onto a Muggle roadway before his owner could use magic to bring him back, resulting in Murphy being hit by a lorry. She'd caused a small headache for a Ministry Obliviator, or two, when in her panic and fright at seeing her beloved Murphy broken and mangled she'd apparated away with him, coming straight to MacFusty's here in Hogsmeade.

The pet shoppe portion of MacFusty's has set hours but the veterinary portion has someone there at all times, even if just a technician covering the graveyard shift to check on any animals staying overnight and to be there to call in a vet healer should an emergency arrive in the wee hours. Murphy and his owner had arrived just after the shoppe and clinic had closed for regular hours but Indigo was still there. He'd immediately summoned Coco, knowing that if Murphy was to be saved he'd need help.

Indigo and Coco had worked on Murphy for several hours, stopping internal bleeding, repairing organs, stabilizing broken bones until Murphy could be given Skele-Gro. As the potion's mending of bones can be uncomfortable, even somewhat painful if the bone is badly enough damaged, they didn't want to give Murphy the Skele-Gro just yet, concerned that the added discomfort and pain could send his system into shock.

Coco gently strokes Murphy's head. "I'll take first watch."

"Are you sure? I had thought to stay. Ida is here until until midnight and while she's been doing a great job she's new enough I'd rather her not be alone with a dog that's been this badly injured," he says of MacFusty's newest vet tech.

"I'll stay for now and you can relieve me later."

"No big plans with Fritz tonight?"

"Quiet night in. Tomorrow is End of Term Feast so we thought to stay in tonight."

"All right then, thanks. I'll go home, see to my menagerie, and get some sleep. I'll be back around midnight or so but get me if you need me before then."

"Will do," Coco says with a smile.

That settled, they go out together to talk with Murphy's owner who had been anxiously waiting. With a promise to summon her if Murphy takes a turn for the worse, no matter the hour, she leaves saying she'll be back in the morning as soon as the clinic opens. Indigo discusses how often to give Murphy the various potions that will help with pain and stave off infection before he too leaves.

After letting Fritz know about the emergency that brought her back to the clinic and that she'll be late, Coco makes the rounds with Ida to check on other overnight boarders and on the various animals in the pet shoppe part of the business, including a hairless guinea pig, called a skinny pig by many, that has attracted a lot of attention but so far no one serious about giving her a permanent home. Coco then settles in near Murphy where Ida joins her, bringing a deck of cards and a cribbage board. They play until Fritz surprises them with Chinese takeaway, Coco periodically checking Murphy's vitals and giving him various potions as needed.

Astronomy Study
Author: Mildred
Date:   08-06-17 01:50

Mildred was at the Gryffindor common room helping Achilles studying Astronomy. The room was almost empty since most of the students were already done with their finals and were enjoying the good weather outside. Mildred herself was done as well, but Achilles would take his Astronomy final tonight.

"Describe me what happens when a star turns into a supernova," Mildred asked.

Achilles gave her the answer, a little bit unsure regarding some details. Mildred praised him because he answered correctly. He then asked for a break. Mildred put down the heavy textbook on the table, and Achilles closed his eyes letting go a sonorous sigh.

"I have all these concepts floating around my head and I'm afraid to mess them up."

"You'll do fine. I think you're ready."

"Thank you."

The Fat Lady's portrait swung and Wesley entered the common room. He glanced at Mildred and Achilles but ignored them, as he went upstairs to the boy's dormitories. He returned moments later with a towel, disappearing through the Fat Lady's portrait.

"Is he going to the lake?" Achilles asked with a tip of envy.

He had wanted to do so since the year had started because of a rumor that had spread about a hidden Smart Crystals cargo underwater.

"I don't know," Mildred replied.

She and Wesley weren't at the best terms since she had decided to break up with him. He was surprised and hurt with her decision and she had a hard time making him understand that for now she wanted to be alone. Wesley couldn't reason with the fact that despite caring for him she would rather not be his girlfriend. Spending time with Achilles wasn't helping because now Wesley had convinced himself that Mildred had broken up with him so she could be with Achilles. That wasn't true but she was not going to stop hanging out with Achilles just because it might bother Wesley. She hoped her ex-boyfriend would come around and they could all be friends again.

"Well, he is not going to find anything. He isn't that of a good swimmer. Those Smart Crystals aren't going anywhere," Achilles declared.

Mildred smiled and she opened the text book urging Achilles to study a little bit more, before dinner.

(Tessa) Not Feeling Well
Author: Bronwyn Dewhurst
Date:   08-06-17 07:41

Tessa had her head down on the Hufflepuff table in the Great Hall. She had just completed her last two finals of the school year. Herbology had gone okay, but she wasn't sure about History of Magic. Her uncertainty didn't have anything to do with not being prepared or disliking the subject, because she had studied a lot for it and actually didn't mind the subject at all.

The reason Tessa wasn't all that positive she'd done well on the History of Magic exam was because she'd had extremely low energy. She'd felt okay first thing in the morning and throughout Herbology, but her energy had dwindled soon after that first exam ended. Tessa was pretty sure she was sick.

"You should go to the Hospital Wing," Blakeney said. Blakeney had finished her last exams along with Tessa. Unlike her bestie, she felt great. She was done with third year and looking forward to a boy-filled summer.

"I don't want to," Tessa mumbled into the folded arms she was using as a headrest.

"You're just going to get worse and worse," Blakeney said. "You've got the rest of today to get through, all day tomorrow, and then a very long train ride on Sunday. You don't want to be sick on the Hogwarts Express, do you? Let Madam Pomfrey fix you up, or you'll regret it."

Tessa finally raised her head up and looked at Blakeney. "Okay."

She started to get up, and then Chip was at her elbow. "I'll escort you," he declared, taking on the very serious role of chivalrous boyfriend.

Tessa smiled weakly at him. She wanted to tell him she could manage on her own, but she didn't want to hurt his feelings. Besides, she wasn't all that confident she could make it on her own. The Hospital Wing wasn't exactly next door.

"Feel better," Blakeney said. "I'll visit you if Pomfrey keeps you locked up," she added.

"Thanks," Tessa murmured. "Bye."

Chip escorted her from the Great Hall to the Hospital Wing. Tessa had her fingers crossed that she wouldn't have to stay there for the remainder of the school year.
