Score And Score Again (Deak)

Deak hands Phin the Quaffle. They are that close. Just about as close are Jack, Mortimer, Griet, and Berengeria. Deak thought about trying to fake the Slytherins out and not really pass Phin the ball but they're so bunched up he can't see how he could pull it off. Alastor helps break things up with a Bludger and Philippa hits the other Bludger at the group as well. As close together as all six Chasers are, having two Bludgers come at them one on top of the other sends them all scattering.
Phin pulls forward enough for Jack and Deak to give him a semblance of a two person blockade. With the three Slytherin Chasers almost on top of them again, Phin does a rapid throw straight towards the center ring. Alexa is barely moving by this point but she does give what little she's got left to give. The Quaffle goes past her but she's gotten enough of a hit on it that it hits the hoop, bounces, hits the hoop again, and then, barely, goes through.
Mortimer puts the Quaffle back in play, making an excellent pass to Berengeria. The only problem is that Deak's ducked a Bludger sent by Basil and it instead hits Basil's own teammate Berengeria. It's a hard enough hit that when it slams into her side, Berengeria's nearly pushed off her broom. She lets go of the Quaffle as she instrinctively grasps her broom with both hands to regain her balance.
Deak dives to fly below Berengeria, grabs the Quaffle, and before anyone else has time to react, he's given the ball a hard throw. Alexa never even sees it coming into her zone. The Quaffle goes through on Alexa's left.
A not too happy looking Mortimer retrieves the Quaffle yet again to put it back into play as the score is announced as ninety for Ravenclaw, ten for Slytherin.
One Secret Revealed

Diagon Alley was relatively slow on February 9th. Gretta understood why the crowd had reduced into just a few people walking from store to store. She could feel the cold of the outdoors while inside her room. This did not change her comfort as she slid back to her position underneath the window.
Gretta had made a list of what to do for Mulberry's Birthday on February 14th. It was Valentine's Day and Thomas had said he was too busy to spend it with Gretta. It was all right. Gretta would be too busy with Mulberry's Birthday any way.
A line crossed through all of Gretta's options. Loretta Watson had denied a pony party, a tea party, and a beach party. Gretta was all out of ideas. Mulberry liked coloring. A coloring book party might actually work. Gretta had almost written it down when a knock on the door caused her to jump up and hit her head on the window sill. She rubbed the back of her head and got up to open the door.
It was supposed to be her day off. Her day off meant her day of relaxation. The fact that some one was at her door made her a little frustrated. She opened the door and saw Jude Watson . Gretta touched her head again and tried to smile.
"Hi Gretta." Jude said. Gretta mumbled in response.
"We went to Hogsmeade today and I bought that potion I was talking about."
Gretta blushed as she remembered which potion it was. It had only been a few days before that Gretta had rolled up her sleeves to reveal her scarred wrists. Mully had said some thing and Jude had added to her comment by talking about a potion that makes the scars disappear. Gretta had felt so humiliated by some one finding out about her secret. She wondered how many people the girls would tell. She then wondered how Jude had known about the potion. Was Jude's mother a wrist cutter? Gretta could not think of why. It was true that Loretta's husband had died close to a year ago, but was that a reason for her to cut herself?
Gretta looked at the little girl as she handed her the potion.
"Thank you," Gretta said. Jude nodded and waved good bye. Gretta stared at the container for some time before reading the instructions on how to make it.
Widening the Lead

Not long after Ravenclaw's ninth goal Phin noticed a lone figure making its way towards the pitch. Shortly afterwards Phin could see that it was Coach Krum returning from taking Fritz Schnackenpfefferhausen to the hospital wing. Either the quick return was a good sign or a bad sign. Phin couldn't decide which.
It might be good meaning that Fritz was fine, just concussed.
It might be bad meaning that Coach Krum was coming to let Coach Batuti and other faculty know that Fritz's situation is dire and to get Snider to let them bring Fritz's parents to Hogwarts. Phin can well imagine just how displeased Snider would be at having two Muggles on campus, upset over their gravely injured Non of a son. It's not a stretch of his imagination to envision Snider denying them access, bitch that she is.
Intent on trying to get a good look of Krum's face as the man draws nearer to the pitch, Phin ends up not noticing the bludger coming at him until it grazes his nose. Phin reaches up to rub where the bludger hit, the skin across part of the bridge scraped off. Could be worse. It could have hit solidly, breaking his nose.
Deciding that they'll probably know soon enough whether the news on Fritz is good or bad, Phin gives his full attention back to the match. It's that or risk not seeing a bludger coming at his face again.
Phin rockets forward, joining Jack and Deak in trying to get the quaffle from Griet. She tenaciously hangs on to it so short of deliberately fouling her, the guys have to be patient until Griet either goes to pass or shoot. Phin pulls up short to avoid another bludger at the same time that Deak takes a hit from the other bludger to his broom. The crack is loud enough that Phin swivels around to see if Deak's broom is broken. Luckily there's no damage evident.
Deak and Phin focus on Griet again just in time to see her throwing the quaffle. She nearly misses the block but Megara is able to tap her fingers on it enough to sent it spinning away from the hoops instead of towards them. Disappointment is evident on not just Griet's face but the other Slytherin's as well. Unless they pick up their scoring soon or at least stop Ravenclaw from scoring much more, they know they could lose this game on goal points alone, even if they get the snitch.
Jack puts the quaffle back into play with a throw to Phin. Phin zooms off, noting that Coach Krum is back on his broom, whistle in his mouth. Must mean that Fritz is all right then. Relieved, Phin gives the match his full attention once more. With the Slytherin chasers doing all they can, with help from their beaters, to prevent Ravenclaw from reaching the other end of the pitch again, Phin works with Jack and Deak to get within scoring range again as Alastor does his best to do the work of two beaters.
It's Phin with the quaffle when they reach the goal posts, poor Alexa starting to look positively green. Green and blue, given how cold it is and what with the way keepers are limited in how much moving around they can do.
Phin aims for the goal on his left. Alexa goes to her right for the block, blanching and going white around the green and blue. Phin feels bad, though only a little since this is a game in which pain can be a big part, that he's just scored off a girl who looks like she's ready to join Fritz in the hospital wing. He also feels quite happy in that Ravenclaw now leads 100 to 10!
Pathetic

Griet accepted the quaffle from Alexa and raced away from the Slytherin goal hoops as swiftly as humanly possible. She really didn't want to risk Ravenclaw scoring again, especially so quickly after their last goal. 100-10 was pretty pathetic! If Ravenclaw scored six more times, then the game would be tied if Cornelia managed to catch the snitch. Griet hoped that Cornelia would catch the snitch before Ravenclaw scored again. She also hoped Slytherin could get a few more points on the board to narrow the margin between the two teams.
She dashed up, down and side-to-side in an attempt to avoid the many obstacles placed in her way from players to the agressive bludgers that had already knocked one student out of commission today. At least it was Ravenclaw playing with only six teammates, and not Slytherin. Slytherin didn't need another setback!
Griet drew near to the Ravenclaw goal hoops and flung the quaffle at the left-most one. Megara blocked it easily and threw the ball at Jack. Jack rushed off with great hopes of putting more distance between himself and the Slytherin team. He threw the ball at Deak, who threw it at Phin, who threw it back to Deak. When Deak attempted another pass at Jack, Mortimer intercepted the ball with the aid of Basil, Philippa and the two bludgers. Mortimer made a 180 and heaved the ball at Griet, who tucked it securely between arm and body and sprinted back towards the Ravenclaw hoops. She attempted another goal but Megara, finding confidence, expertly blocked it again.
Griet glanced up at Cornelia, who continued to move systematically up and down the Pitch in search of the elusive golden snitch. Find it, Cornelia. Find it! Griet silently urged her sister.
Phin had the quaffle now. Griet scampered after him, eager to get her hands back on the ball. Suddenly, something smashed into her left ankle. She sat up as her broomstick started wobbling and losing acceleration and glanced down at her foot, which throbbed terribly. It was bent at an odd ankle. Griet hissed between her teeth and looked away. She took several deep breaths and then pushed forward again, determined not to let her injury hamper her from finishing the game.
Stupid Ravenclaws (Basil)
Author: Jared
Date: 01-03-08 08:31
Giving a bludger a ferocious smack, Basil hopes it takes another stupid Ravenclod out of commission. Preferably a chaser. He doesn't care which of the three because Phin, Jack, and Deak are all doing equally well this match. Basil simply wants to inflict some pain and keep the other team from increasing its lead. Ninety points is damn well enough of a point spread.
Basil beats Alastor to the other bludger as Philippa goes to intercept the one Basil just sent into Jack. Basil's slams into Phin's arm and Philippa's hits the shoulder on that same side. Phin drops the quaffle and Berengeria grabs it. Mortimer and Berengeria work the quaffle back towards Megera.
Griet takes half a minute to get there and join in, her face somewhat pale under the chapped redness caused by the cold and blustery wind. Basil joins the chasers in the thick of it, ready to meet any bludger Alastor sends at them, as Philippa harasses the Ravenclaw chasers. With Fritz out of the game, things are definately on Slytherin's side bludger wise. Now if they could only get more than one goal and if Cornelia will hurry and get the snitch!
Basil gets between a bludger meant for Berengeria and gives it a hard thwack. It gets Phin again in roughly the same spot that Basil had just gotten seconds before. Phin's prevented from stealing the quaffle and Basil can only imagine the size of the bruise Phin's going to have in that spot. Too bad it's not a break. That would definately help Slytherin out.
Not a bad idea actually.
Whenever Basil hits a bludger at Phin, he tries to aim it for that same area on Phin's arm. A full break isn't necessary but a cracked bone would do nicely. Whenever he aims a bludger at Jack, Basil sends it to Jack's right knee, which has taken a few good hits this game. With Deak it's the right shoulder.
Even if none are put out of commission, Basil at least feels better making all the hits given that his team's chasers are doing a bloody awful job this match!
Another Sneeze (Daria)
Author: Blossom
Date: 01-03-08 15:31
Daria feels another bout of sneezing coming on. As with the last one, just as Daria's eyes close involuntarily with one sneeze she catches a glimpse of the snitch. If she'd known that there would be a pattern of her seeing the snitch when she sneezes, she would have tried sneezing more often over the course of this game.
The snitch whirls around in ever increasingly small circles while also putting distance between itself and Daria. Pouring on the speed, Daria goes in pursuit, already lying low over her broom handle, arm ready to stretch out to grab the snitch.
The snitch darts into the mix of chasers, Daria right behind it. Off to the side, Daria can see Cornelia coming in fast as well. They follow the snitch, the two girls and the winged ball zipping along so quickly everything else is a blur. The snitch suddenly stops and does in the exact opposite direction. Daria and Cornelia are forced to pivot tightly while at the same time braking rapidly. Daria comes close to hitting the front of one of the stands, one foot actually making a thudding noise against the wood. She's too cold in her feet though to feel any pain there might be and now's not the time to stop and check.
Even so, that one little delay of avoiding slamming completely into the stand has taken the snitch from Daria's line of sight. Cornelia too appears to have lost it, her flight slower and a looking of consternation on her face as her head swivels from side to side looking. Daria takes little comfort, though, in Slytherin not getting the snitch. Not when she was so close herself.
Coming to a full stop, Daria pulls up her leg to have a look at the foot that hit the stand. The side that hit is swelling a little but not as much as Daria might have thought, probably thanks to how cold her feet are. Circulation is slow enough that the swelling is at a minimum. There will definately be some bruising later though and some pain once her feet aren't so numb and cold.
Taking a moment to do a slow search around the pitch from her hovering position, Daria still doesn't see the snitch. Maybe she should try sneezning again.
(Cornelia) Savior

Cornelia hadn't seen the snitch all that much so far in the match, and the few times she'd seen it, it hadn't exactly been easy to follow. The elements were entirely against the seekers, but Cornelia didn't take defeat lightly. In fact, she had no intention of giving up. With Slytherin so far behind, she was absolutely determined to save the day. She scanned the length and width of the Pitch, high and low, for any sign of the winged ball.
It wasn't too long after her last sighting that she spotted it again, hovering just behind Megara Flynn's ear. Cornelia shot forward, startling Megara who surely thought Cornelia was charging at her. Luckily, the chasers weren't too close to her yet so she didn't have to worry about defending the goal hoops with this new distraction.
The snitch, sensing pursuit, darted away, flapping its little wings incessantly. Cornelia didn't look to see if Daria was also following the snitch. She just focused on what she had to do. Up, down, this way, that, Cornelia followed the golden snitch, drawing a centimeter or two closer when possible, but also falling behind when a cold blast of wind pushed her backwards. She never lost sight of the snitch, determined to catch it this time once and for all.
Both ball and Cornelia turned abruptly. It was then that she saw Daria in pursuit of them both. Daria's face suddenly screwed up and she sneezed once, twice, three times. The snitch was actually within grabbing distance of Daria, but another strong gust of wind propelled Cornelia forward before Daria could recover from her sneezing fit and reach out and swipe the orb from the air. Cornelia whipped out her hand and cupped the snitch in her palm.
She'd done it. She'd saved the day for Slytherin.
